Offers rather clunky presentation type functionality via ipad/android apps. What none of the documentation tells you is that you can only use this with the 'network' input selected on your projector. This means you can't for instance have a VGA input displayed then seamlessly switch to content from your IOS/android device. As soon as you switch to the network input on the projector you are presented with a configuration screen which includes a pass code you need to enter in your mobile app to connect to the projector. This happens even if you have already done this then switched the projector input to something else and straight back to network. This makes it impossible to seamlessly integrate content from multiple sources. Once connected to the projector via the mobile app the software is ok, but could do with a lot of improvement in terms of what it finds that you can project, and also how it looks on the projector. It also takes over the entire screen of the mobile device so you can combine control of the projector with say notes you may need to read for a presentation. Needless to say we found the setup rather lacking compared to what we had hoped for and have returned the dongle.

The wireless support for connecting the projector to an access point is WEP only. Wow. 2014. WEP only. The ViewSonic adapter supports WPA2 when used as a WiFi adapter for a PC, but the projector support is WEP only. Useless. It can be used for Ad-hoc connections to the projector which may be useful to some still. $90 is too much for this type of adapter, but it's all that's available for use with the ViewSonic projectors.

This viewsonic WPE-100 wireless dongle was purchased for a Viewsonic PJD7583wi projector. The documentation for the device is useless, as previously mentioned by another reviewer. It doesn't explain anywhere how to use the dongle with a projector. Do not waste your time calling their tech support, as they continued to reference the useless instructions I already had. After spending a good part of an hour, I decided to just plug the dongle into the projector and hard wire my projector into the network. It was then possible to configure settings by using the I.P. of the projector in a browser. The settings then needed to be changed from AP to infrastructure. It would not allow for the use of any wireless security settings except WEP or disabling wireless security all together. This may not matter to most, but is a big deal for our office network. After finally accomplishing wireless network connectivity and ensuring the projector is configured to use the device as the video source, the results were poor at best. The viewing media included still web pages and spreadsheets.

If you are purchasing this adapter to plug into your ViewSonic projector to allow you to project images without the need of connecting to a computer then YOU WILL LIKELY BE DISAPPOINTED. I strongly urge you to NOT purchase. The instruction manual is useless. It never even mentions plugging the adapter into the projector (kind of an important part, when you come to think of it). It never shows or demonstrates how to use the adapter. It does spend 75 pages on how to plug the adapter into a computer to get it connected to your wireless network, which is only part of the required setup. ViewSonic DOES NOT ACCEPT RETURNS on this item (that should be your first clue). The "technical support" that they provide is laughable. Don't waste your time. Don't waste your money. You will be better off spending the time and money to wire a network cable to the projector.
