Does not work. I bought this hoping to be able to switch back and forth from PlayStation to Nintendo switch without having to unplug and plug in constantly for the kids. The connection will cut in and out every minute on the minute leaving a black screen. Worthless product.

If you’ve got a TV/monitor that is one HDMI port short, this will get you by. This switch will in effect turn that one port into two, letting you swap between what’s displayed through that port, at the press of a button. Albeit a button that is on the other side of the room, in my case. It’s working well for having adding both a desktop PC and game console to a TV with only one empty HDMI port left. There’s no remote, so if you’re not sitting nearby, and will be switching sources regularly, keep that in mind. Also no extra HDMI cables are included, so also know that you need 3 HDMI cables. One oddity in this setup is that switching to have the PC displayed on screen always takes several seconds for Windows to adjust its resolution (in this case, to the 4k of the TV). During this time, there’s a little black screen flash and/or the desktop resizing. It’s only a few seconds, but it is a minor annoyance. This is likely a computer/Windows issue, not an issue with the device. As a bi-directional switch, you could instead use this in the opposite manner, having just one video source output to two displays. I don’t know what the most common use case is for this, but you would again be simply pressing the physical button on the switch to change which TV/monitor was receiving the signal. IMPORTANT: note that you can not have one source display to both monitors at the same time. It’s not a splitter, but rather a switch. So one display would show the video and the other would be blank (or likely display a message about having no signal, or go into power save mode, etc). Conclusion:Works well, small, simple, seems to be of slightly above average build quality for the price. Not the most elegant solution, as you have the extra dongle and cable in your setup. And if you decided you later needed to add another device, you would have to replace this with a switch that had more than 2 ports. But if you want a quick, functional, cheap Made in China solution, this gets the job done happily. And it comes in purple.

I do like how with just a click of a button you can switch between monitor views with this so I will be keeping it.

I have to say, I never really felt the need to get an HDMI splitter, so I, being the sort of person who looks at a product photo on Amazon and thinks I immediately understand that product's full functionality 95% of the time, yet again find myself reviewing a product after it surprised me in a really positive way.You see, I thought this was an HDMI switch, nothing more. When I received it, though, I realized it was also supposed to function as a splitter, though the device itself looked so simple that it didn't seem possible. I do think calling this a splitter is a bit generous, as I tend to buy a splitter when I want to split some sort of signal and use it in multiple places simultaneously. That said, the fact that this "splitter" only lets you output to one device arguably makes the simple user experience of this switch/splitter make all the more sense.Basically, if you want to switch one source between two screens, then plug that one source (such as a game console) into the one side of this unit and plug the two TVs into the other side of this unit. If you want to switch between two sources on a single screen, then plug those two sources (such as two separate game consoles) into the one side of this unit and plug the TV into the other side of the unit. Since this unit works bidirectionally, it auto-detects what's sending a signal and what's trying to receive a signal and changes the function of the unit accordingly. Switching between sources or screens in either of the above-mentioned scenarios simply requires that you press the one button present on the device. Easy, right?Since I ordered this device expecting it to act as a switch, I'm totally fine with the fact that it doesn't display a single source on two screens simultaneously, but I think that may limit the bidirectional appeal of this thing for some people. That said, it functions very well as a switch from my experience, and I can see how it might be useful as a "splitter" for some people as long as they're going to another room for a while and want to keep watching whatever they're watching at the moment. Cool little device.
