The adapter works great on my z50. I updated my camera to the latest firmware (2.5) and after that no errors. At first my Tamron 60mm macro auto focus wasn’t working. I unmounted and reset and it still didn’t. I then switched the lens mode between MF/AF and then it started working flawlessly. The auto focus is very responsive. The lens is NOT on the supported list but they can add it now!

I really wanted to love this as a much less expensive alternative to Nikon's overpriced (imho) FTZ adapter. And for 6 months I did love it. It worked quite well with all of the existing F-mount lenses I had from both Nikon and Sigma. Yes...sometimes autofocus was a little sluggish but generally speaking it was fine and an acceptable tradeoff. Then I bought a 300mm Nikon AF lens (not AF-S). My Z50 wouldn't recognize it enough to let me take a picture. Same problem with *some* of the AF-S telephoto lenses. I tried these exact same lenses with Nikon's FTZ adapter and they worked fine. Hmmmmm. In (some) fairness to Viltrox, they have published a list of compatible lenses (search for "nf-z compatible list") and the AF telephoto is not on the list. But....the AF-S 300mm *is* on that list and it had problems with that lens as well.I feel compelled to say that I have a bunch of Viltrox prime lenses that I use with my Z50 and they have been great performers. Their 85mm f/1.8 is my go-to lens for live music photography and I just love the creaminess of the background when shooting wide open. So this review is no diss against Viltrox products; I just think it is probably a difficult challenge for them to get the lens-to-camera communications right for every possible Nikon lens ever made.My recommendation is to check the compatibility chart and then test it with all of your lenses while still in the return period. If it works, it seems to be well built and will likely continue to work. But...if you plan on picking up additional older Nikon lenses for in the future, might be better served paying the extra money for Nikon's adapter.

I ordered this weeks ago when I bought a Nikon Z8 and had not tried it yet and was actually going to send it back after reading reviews because I did not think it would work on the Z8 or my old old Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD (Model A011) lens because Tamron said the Nikon adapter will not work with my old lens. I was getting ready to do the return this morning but opened it up and tried it first and everything works great, very happy.

I would have spent the money on the official Nikon FTZ adapter at this point. First of all, the adapter won't let me fire the shutter at all, and an error occurs after trying to do so (Yes, I have updated the firmware of my Z5 and it won't work). Second, there's too much friction when trying to put on the lens on the F-mount side of the adapter. It makes me feel uneasy to use this with any of my F lenses (I've tried AF-P, AF-S, and AF *also known as G-type lenses and they all don't work). In all honesty, I don't know how this product has any positive reviews given that it's unable to do what it's advertised to do.TL;DR: the mounting surface of the F mount side is very rough and causes a lot of friction. Makes it difficult to put and remove lenses from the adapter. Even if you do get the lens on, it won't work.Save yourself time, money, and pain, and buy a second-hand official FTZ adapter. I'm throwing mine into the trash bin because there's no point in sending this piece of junk.

Update: My z6 firmware was not up to date. It wasn't the adapter it was my CAMERA. Updated my firmware to 3.50 and it works amazingly well! Wicked fast AF. Even in the Sigma Art 85mm which has had missed focus issues in the past on my DSLR.I tried 4 lenses, Nikkor 24-70 f2.8 ED, Sigma Art 85mm f1.4 DG, Nikkor 70-200mm f 2.8 ED VR, and Nikkor 50mm f1.4 with my Nikon z6. Not one worked with this adapter. I repeatedly got an error message, I went to the Viltrox website, but no update that I could find was available for this adapter Waste of time.

I got it to use Nikon F Mount lenses on my Nikon zfc camera. It has worked perfectly so far with my Nikon lenses and also with Tamron and Yongnuo lenses so I'm thinking it's a great buy and a good bargain and it works quite well.
