Son purchased for soccer as a trendy item. Not necessary if you don't cut your socks. Does help keep shin guards in place.

My son is 16 and bought these to hold his shin guards in place. They did not hold at all. We threw them in the trash after the one game he used them. Don’t waste your money.

The velcro part it hard plastic, not anything like the Nike ones. My daughter only uses them when she forgets the Nike brand in the laundry

Bought these for my son. He lost the sleeves for his shin guards and they kept sliding down his legs. These straps are perfect for helping to hold his shin guards in place.
