This bearing set will not replace 88101 bearings used on 1930's model 890 bandsaws. This bearing set is for the lower wheel drive shaft. The new bearings are exact replacements for the originals on me 60 year old Delta Rockwell bandsaw.

I installed these in a 1961 Delta bandsaw. These are Chinese-made 87504 bearings. I had a little bit of buyer’s remorse when I initially inspected them because they seemed to have about the same amount of play as the 60 year old New Departure 87504 bearings I was replacing. However, once installed the shaft spins smoothly and feels good. Pay attention to the two circular preload springs that go between the back bearing and the housing. They go “back to back” when you re-install them, with the fingers pressing against the outer bearing race. Delta said to torque the nuts on the shaft to 30-40 ft lb to give the right bearing preload. I’m hoping these will last a long time, but I did use anti-seize on all the surfaces in case I have to replace them. I’ll come back and update the review if they fail in the next few years, so if I haven’t updated it you know they’re still going since Oct 2020.
