In addition to playing violin, I’ve taught myself maintenance and repair by accumulating a small collection of cheap instruments in various states of playability to work on and learn from. I wasn’t about to try an unknown cleaner on my main player but was happy to use it on one of my bangers.Unsure what’s in it, but the cleaner gives off a mild citrus smell. It reminded me at first of a “green” finish stripper I’ve used, but it’s nowhere as strong and probably just a masking agent.The spray nozzle works well, and it’s easy to control the amount of cleaner sprayed either into a cloth (preferred) or directly on the wood surface. Gentle swirls that leave no detectable residue and I hope the image shows the difference, with the cleaned area on the left.The included cloths are standard thin microfiber and the rosin appears to be light, meaning yellow.Bottom Line: I wish the ingredients were known – especially before considering use on a vintage finish - but it appears to be a fairly mild cleaner that works well.

This arrives with everything you need to keep your violin in tip top shape. The protective oil is a brilliant solution to help polish the body of your violin removing the residual rosin. I’m also rather fond of the orange fragrance!I found this to be an amazing gift for a violin player. The only disappointment was the rosining received was cracked in the set and spilled over everything.A proper gift for the violinist in your life.
