Good working-distance on a well-balanced Simul-Focal (yes!), Trinocular, microscope that comes w/ all that was needed.- I got this unit for serious-hobbyist-caliber SMT rework and PCB assembly- Boom stand was black vs. white - OEM (Vision Scientific (VS)) offered very helpful support and a reasonable refund or an opportunity to return/exchange - I selected the monetary stipend to offset the mixed colors (60 usd refunded to card)- Packaging was adequate and all contents survived the shipping w/o issue.- As one of the lesser expensive trinocular simul-focal boom microscopes with a 5MP camera, 144 LED light ring, 2.0x & 0.5x Barlow lenses, cover, eye-pads, etc., I am pretty darned pleased with it.- The optics are good quality (take that with a bit of salt as I have no relevant frame of reference other then items viewed thereunder are extremely sharp and easy to see, even though I have less than stellar vision)- Once set up correctly, focus (eyepiece focus vs. head focus vs. zoom vs. camera focus) is maintained throughout min to max zoom, with only a minor eyepiece or focal tweak needed once in a while- Head focal pinion has adjustable tension (rotate right knob counter-/clockwise while holding the left knob - ccw loosens tension)- An adequate plastic cover is provided too, to protect the head/optics when not in use- Each 10x eyepiece came with rubber eye-pads and has adjustable focus, and retention set screws to secure them in the microscope head (some other OEMs don't provide this and the eyepieces get pulled out when removing the covers, I understand)- Head does have IPD (interpupillary distance) adjustment to account for folks with different distance between their eyes- When used with the 0.5x Barlow, the working distance and depth of field is ample and very much adequate for my anticipated needs - see the first couple of images (with a screwdriver easily fitting between the work surface and the head's optics/illuminator)- The camera's optical setup required a bit of tinkering to get correct (honestly, I read only the base assembly manual - I still haven't read the included scope manual in detail, so it's likely my fault): I removed the adapter with the o-ring, leaving the metal camera body adapter in place, screwed in the 0.45x optical adapter and then slid that into the provided 4-piece camera adapter (4 pieces total - 2 black concentric barrels with a silver reducer neck and a knurl nut secured slotted adjustment focal length mechanism) that I had affixed to the 3rd port - image attached- With this setup, the camera's FOV is just a bit smaller than what is presented to the user's eyes - I'd say 80% of the FOV is captured by the camera, centered on the image presented in the eyepieces - a differing camera/adapter/lense setup may yield more of the FOV being captured by the camera- The Camera is a USB 2.0 UVC (USB Video Class (a.k.a 'Driverless', which is a bit of a misnomer)) 5MP color camera which is adequate, but may be one of the first items I upgrade - I had an issue as UVC wasn't installed on the Win7 x64 workstation I was using, but the camera worked fine on another Win7 box - meh, not VS' fault - when it becomes time to upgrade the new camera will be a >=20MP model, as they are pretty reasonably priced, all things considered - attached QFN device image taken by this OOB setup on the day I had set things up- The light from the light ring is mostly adequate/ample - with the only exception is when at max zoom and not using the 0.5x barlow - when doing so, the image becomes somewhat dark, but that is simple physics (less photons) - may decide to get a dual-neck fiber-optic illumination source should I need to do an appreciable amount of 'higher' magnification work - for the repair and assembly/inspection, I will likely be using it in the 3.5x to 22.5x configuration - using it from 5x to 10x most of the timeOverall, I am happy with the unit and recommend purchase from Vision Scientific. Being they have a US presence, I was able to get Amazon Prime 2-day shipping too. Yes, one can find comparable units from the likes of Ali-land, but shipping is not free and they don't have US-based distribution, so it takes weeks for things to arrive, hopefully undamaged, with an overall cost more than this unit costs. This was the main reason that I elected to procure from this vendor via Prime.Take care.

Missing the attachment for the camera. Microscope itself works and light attachment is bright.
