We have seen kids enjoy this weaving loom kit a lot especially those who love to do crafts and arts. The fun part is that they can design their own colors. This keeps the kids busy for a couple of hours, which is ideal for the parents!

What this does well:This set is very colorful and fun. It's reasonably easy to assemble, and full of hours of fun for kids. The loops come in 12 colors, which is a great and wide range. The bracelet braiding frame is a smart idea and a good way to teach knot tying by providing tension. Again, lots of colorful cords make it a fun starter kit. What this set isn't:I've done a lot of weaving on potholder looms. The standard old style looms are about 6 inches square and made of metal. They're very basic and inexpensive, and you can weave with bulky yarns on them as well as potholder loops. This loom is much larger (9.5 in), but actually has the same number of pegs (18 on each side) as the traditional looms, so you end up with a potholder that is the same size once it is off the loom. There is no weaving hook included, so you have to manually weave the loops. Again, good for keeping kids hands busy. The loops are synthetic and small, so the potholders aren't as good for blocking heat as the larger cotton loops available elsewhere. On the whole, I'd recommend this kit as a colorful activity for kids who like to work with their hands and a very beginner introduction to weaving and knotting.

This functions as either a pot holder loom or a bracelet making loom, but not both at once. You have to assemble the loom yourself, which is not super difficult except getting the pegs properly installed takes some dexterity and can be just a little tricky. You will have to help younger kids with this step. The loom for potholders is a lot larger than the standard plastic or metal ones, so it's a little bit harder to keep the loops from snapping off during the removal process. This does come with plenty materials to get started. The loops are decent quality nylon, and there is a fair bit of cord to start making bracelets. I like that there is a little mesh tote included to store all of the supplies in. It's small, but it holds the loops and cord supplies. There is an instruction guide included that can help with learning to do the basics, but kids will likely still need help to get going.

No child can ever move past the right of passage of using the weaving loom. The Vividlife Weaving Loom Kit is perfect for my daughter to have fun weaving creations like so many of us and others have done. This kit comes with a pretty blue loom that the child puts together and completes with pretty pink nails. It comes with a handy storage bag to hold the looms, a crochet needle, a plastic needle, 12 bungee cords and 12 cartoon buckles, 16 bracelet strings, 12 stickers, and 288 colorful loops in 12 bright colors. Two instruction booklets are also included. Along with a long white string of yarn for some reason. The instructions for the bracelets do look quite “busy” for a child though and may frustrate some kids without a parent to guide them. All in all, this is a great weaving loom kit that is sure to keep a child busy making their own fun creations.

When I was growing up weaving looms -- the early edition of this version -- was a big thing. All of us had one and we made dozens of pot holders for our families. At one point I went every further and made a bunch of them and made an afghan. I saw this set which is MUCH MUCH bigger and better than what I had as a kid and had to get it. It's great for keeping up finger dexterity in addition to a fun memory.
