I usually buy these more as a protection for my lenses than anything. The UV filtration works well, but I tend to shoot in very dusty environments. Several times throughout the shoot, I'll have to clean the dust/dirt off the lense. This has saved me thousands by preventing scratched glass

Bought this new Vivitar UV filter as a replacement for my old Vivitar Series 1 HD Multicoated UV filter. They are not the same. This new filter is very poor quality, very reflective, and completely useless as a UV filter. It serves as a lens protector, but I need to take it off before taking pictures.

Not too much you can say about these filters. It did not affect the image quality of my photos and I have a little more protection for my lens. So it works as expected. Good Price too.

Fits the step up ring I purchase for my solar filter project for my Digital SLR camera. I can make the solar filters for a fraction of the cost of pre-made ones.

Cheap and cheerful. I always travel with one of these on my lenses and more than once I've been thankful for doing so when the filter has broken and the lens beneath is intact. I can't comment on its quality as an actual filter, I never shoot with one of these on my lens, at this price point it's always going to be vastly inferior to the glass I'm using so why would I want to shoot through it? But as a protective layer for traveling it's great.

You know that when you buy a filter at this low price, what you buy is only a protective front lens optical element, which if it be meet with uv filter then it is a kind of good luck, which one would expect of vivitar, maker of many years, at least some percentage that fast empirical evidence on full sky blue and white nimbus me to do, would be about 10 to 15%. If otherwise there is no possibility to complain, or get more money for a B&W or a Hoya, so I'm fine with this purchase, so the four stars, I have what I buy
