I got this with the intention of passing smog, it's got carb eo number and should with no issues. I chose the volant intake due to its air box that butts up to the hole in the inner fender. I was going to plumb a snorkel to the other side of the inner fender. The interface for the mass airflow sensor to the air box is appalling, 1/8" + gaps. Mine didn't include the 3/16" thick-boi gasket that is absolutely necessary to seal this to the air filter. The bungs for the idle air and valve cover vent are threaded into the injection molded plastic and bend. There is also no mount for the air box. It just jams into place. It should have at least used the Ford isolation mounts for the factory box. The brand less Chinese intakes are far superior in quality. If it wasn't for California laws I would pay to return this cheap thing.

Ordered on 3/17 and showed up 3/19 which was 4-6 days early. Fits great, looks great and already noticed a big difference in throttle response.

when I ordered the the kit, it arrived the very next day. It appears very durable and was easy to install, took me about 30 minutes. we'll see how it runs.

I polled the stock air filter off and assembled everything in the house before dropping the new intake in place. Maybe 30 mins top to do it allEasiest install ever. Just know that you’ll need to reuse part of the EGR hoses from the stock and some of the new hoses. Don’t panic it works just fineEnd result, a deep throaty intake initially until your trucks computer resets. Let it idle in drive with your foot on the brake for five mins then again for five with the ac on high. Then hit the road, the pickup is noticeable. I’ve yet to get through a tank so gas mileage isn’t an obvious difference but that wasn’t what I was looking for in the first place. The engine breathes now, throttle response is amazing and my truck feels like new

Brought for a friend. My 16 year old son installed it in about 35-40 minutes. Sounds great 👍. My friend says he's getting better gas mileage by 2 mpg.

Seems like a quality made product. Unfortunately I had fitment issues from the get go. The holes to mount the MAF to the air box did not line up quite right and I had to drill the MAF to get it to bolt up. After all that, I did notice a decrease in intake temps using an OBD scanner.

This is far and beyond better than any $20 cold air kit, as this is a real cold air kit. Pulling fresh air from the fender, as the OEM intended. Its big and bulky but it fits into the same position as the original air box and actually looks very good. There are a few...discrepencies. Cosmetic though.First off, the assembly. Directions weren't that great, although its fairly simple to put together without them.Second, it includes new rubber hoses to attach to the EGR system as well as the throttle body, I found both of these hoses to be too short and had to reuse the originals. Now, it looks even bulkier and busier around the throttle body, but hey, I'm not showing off this motor to anyone.Third, the MAF sensor on Ford's for this era feature a big rubber bushing around the MAF plug. This big rubber bushing is in plain sight once you plug your MAF wiring into the sensor. I cut it off to give it a cleaner, OEM look.Lastly, this IS CARB (California Air Resources Board) compliant but the stickers are not included. You have to reach out to the manufacturer directly and they will send you the stickers to smog (for California).Overall, I give 4 stars. I'm a harsh critic, but as the first reviewer, I want to be as honest as I can here. I have not noticed any significant fuel savings, however, my vehicle is not set-up for fuel efficiency. I WOULD reccomend this product to anyone with a 1997-2002 Expedtion (or F150 for that matter) as it works just fine in mine.
