Overall it looks good, but I do not recommend. Intake tube is made from two halves. When joined together at intake they were offset and would not fit throttle body. I had to trim and heat it up to fit. It is still nearly impossible to install. Also the silicone adapter is 2-3” short for the snorkel. I had to purchase a new one to make it work. The box is small for the air filter size, nearly impossible to get it in the box and connected. The lid is flimsy and if the screws are tightened much the lid bows and doesn’t seal good. The screw holes are to close to edge and will likely break the lid when tightening.

I've had a 2002 Silverado and a 2003 Tahoe Z71. Both exhibited some fairly annoying heat soak when it gets hot out, whether that's the aging intake baffle and box or what, the end result is on 90-100+ days after idling in traffic or letting the vehicle run while I'm in a store (I have a pug and she need AC at all times), the truck runs pretty poorly - reduced power/bogs under acceleration and there's a kind of roaring sound like the engine is inhaling huge amount of air to overcome the high heat in the engine bay coming into the intake and MAF.I tried a Spectre chrome pipe with K&N-like oiled red filter. It has an open metal box and the heat soak problem was just as bad, if not worse, than OEM stock. It did sound nice and added a bit of torque to the otherwise stock (except for Flowmaster) setup. No tune. On my Silverado and Tahoe, I tried the same combo and was annoyed by the heat-sucking in both vehicles.Volant's setup looked ideal, unless I go fording some creeks. Pulls air in through fender as well as the inlet for the tow hook via a long scoop inlet. Neat. That bolts on to the tow hook mounting bolt, in fact. Some issues I had installing were due to:* Instructions are vague on the scoop installation.* It's difficult getting the scoop into place if it's already attached to the box.* Getting the MAF, gasket and inside-box adapter ring all lined up and bolted together is a real cussing event. I used gaffer's tape to hold down the entire MAF w/ gasket as I lined up the gasket and ring on the inside of the box, while holding it between my knees.* The smaller hose segment has to be used in line from MAF to intake because the larger one is too long, which is contrary to the instructions. I put the longer one connected to the box and scoop because it wouldn't reach the other way around.* There's two ways the filter gets air: Scoop and side fender well openings. There's no soft gasket to keep air from leaking between the box and the fender, which seems an odd omission in a kit of this price and complexity. My overall concerns about the kit:* No idea how long that corrugated/fluted (think plastic cardboard) composite/fiber filter will last, but it's a different design than I've used in any other CAI.* While the overall quality is relatively high (like the clear top window plate and polished screws holding it in place with soft gaskets), the price of this setup is about double what you'd pay for a similar non-scoop setup.* This isn't really a criticism of the Volant kit but now my engine bay looks seriously trashy compared to the new exotic smoked clear acrylic window and fancy looking blue filter.* The acrylic clear air box window will eventually get scratched up and/or foggy from heat and exposure. What is good about the kit:* After a day of driving around, the Tahoe definitely showed a mild improvement in torque and power delivery. Shifts feel smoother and in warm weather when I was feeling a bit of power dropoff before (like going up a steep hill), acceleration feels more 'present' and even. You're not getting like 20+ hp as some video claims, but it's a noticeable slight improvement.* I've heard about 2-3MPG gains, which will be welcome with my 8-10 around LA streets MPG.* It looks great. No fancy chrome pipe but the clear window airbox is cool.* So far it seems like it solved the heat idle soak issue but I won't be able to tell until we get a really hot day.I'd recommend getting some edge foam or some sort of insulation or tubing to run along the edge of the square opening that sits against the fender ports to minimize engine bay heat leaking in.

A great filter/air intake system. I have been impressed with Donaldson filters for >40 years and now I have one under the hood of my truck! Not too difficult to install. The only place I can fault it is the filter box cover: it's plastic. If anything rubs across the cover, the paint comes off. Something this good should have had a better paint job showing off the Volant name. The paint comes off and it looks like it's been there for years. That's why it's rated a four not five.

No instructions were included. And the ram air scoop does not fit a 2500 Yukon XL. Not even close. The rest of the system fit very tight and when I have more time I will modify a few holes for better fitment. But the ram air was a waste of money.

Noticeable improvement in both sound and power. Lower coupler was too short I suggest using the stock accordion coupler beneath the box.Other than that it came packaged nicely the product has simple design, good looks and improves performance.
