About this item

  • The VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) system increases the amount of intake valve lift for increased power. It accomplishes this by turning a control solenoid 'ON' to allow oil pressure into the VTEC control passages to apply pins that will lock the intake rockers. When the oil pressure is present, the pressure switch signal will go high. When the control solenoid is turned 'OFF', the oil pressure is dumped and the oil pressure switch signal will go low.
  • If the pressure switch signal is not logical for the commanded state of the control solenoid, a DTC will set and the PCM will go into a 'fuel-cut' mode limiting engine rpm and performance. The PCM simply doesn't 'know' what the state of the intake valves are, so you end up with the symptoms you describe.
  • This VTEC Solenoid Fits for the Following Vehicles: Honda Accord 2003-2007, Honda Civic 2002-2005, Honda CR-V 2002-2009, Honda Element 2003-2011, Acura RDX 2002-2012, RSX 2002-2006, Acura TSX 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008.
  • Customers can find the product you need accurately according to the OE number. Replacement part number: 15810-RAA-A01, 15810-RAA-A02, 15810-RAA-A03, 15810-PNE-G01, 917-224, 917224, 15810RAAA01, 15810RAAA03, 15810RAAA02, 15810PNEG01.
  • Although the Honda VTEC solenoid remains a reliable component it will not last forever. Thick, dirty, or sludgy oil can clog up the phaser or the solenoid. That ’s the major way for these parts to become stuck. Thin oil could also cause premature wear inside the moving parts. The solenoid can also suffer electronic failure if any of its wiring burns out. Replacing a VTEC Solenoid is much easier, and can be handled by an experienced do it yourself.

I had the same experience as other buyers. Worked for a short time then started throwing code/vsa lights and limp mode. If I tapped lightly on the unit it would re-set for a short time, but eventually throws code again. I think the cheap quality control has clearance issues internally causes something to stick, tapping it helped it release. Going to get the OEM, its not worth fighting with this cheap crap.
