If you intend to rebuild a VW engine, in my case a 1500 Type II, this is an invaluable tool. I always recommend replacing the crank gear set and without one of these tools it is next to impossible for the at home mechanic to get the old gears off in order to re-use the crankshaft. Worth the cost as I have removed 3 gear sets already and it as performed flawlessly.

I bought this as a second unit to have on hand. Been using it for pulling the timing gear off VW air cooled crankshafts. Works great. Good tool for the price.
