Works pretty well. Only thing they should have thought about is a longer extension to be able to pull paint from a 5 gallon pail.

Works well , easy to use , and clean up is pretty easy . On standard 8 foot walls it works great and is fast , Painting ceilings is hard on the arms , unit is a bit heavy full of paint in the handles . Not recommended for tight areas , handle is a bit long and will hit whatever is near by .

This product is great for painting the same color over a large area. I stupidly bought this thinking it would be great for painting the ceiling and quickly regretted it, the roller plus the weight of paint becomes way to heavy in a short amount of time. If I were painting a whole room it would have been great for the walls. The roller soaks up a whole cartridge of paint before anything will come out and you lose a lot of paint inside the mechanism. Cleaning also takes forever. If you’re ok with that the product os convenient for large walls / same color painting.

I really wanted to like this smart roller, but holy crap, it infuriated me. When you use it for the first time it’s fine. Works as expected. But when you wash it, it NEVER gets clean. I was cleaning it as directed for almost 40 min and paint was still coming out from places. I have an industrial garage sink so I was using fresh water to fill it and rinse it and I still saw paint. Whatever time I saved by using this just went into the cleaning time. So no time saved. After cleaning it as best as I could, I set it out to dry. The next day, I shook the pieces and no water came out. So I assembled it to use, and then as I was carrying it, watered down paint leaked out of the handle. How???? I cleaned it for a millennia and it was set to dry! So I cleaned it AGAIN and let it dry for FOUR days. When I went back to it, the same thing happens. What a waste of money. It’s basically just one time use. We went to the store and just bought regular rollers. Trust me, whatever time you saved by using this will be wasted by cleaning and you may not even be able to use it again. Don’t waste your time.

My boyfriend thought this would be a gimmick, and I normally would have agreed, but thought on this occasion I would put his wisdom to the test. I'm glad I did. I discovered a very, very useful paint tool. Some tips : clean-up is where most of the effort lies. Do it religiously, exactly as the manual instructs you to. The actual painting is a breeze, not to mention virtually splatter proof. I could not believe how fast I was going, wall to wall, did about a third of the house in two hours. I didn't even bother with drop cloths once I got the hang of it. When you make the paint advance in the tube, click four or five times, that's enough to get the flow going again. Or just push the plunger like you would on a syringe, that works too. When paint dots appear on the nap of the roller, that's when you know you're good to go. Last tip: given that clean up us essential to the long term functioning of this tool, I would only use it for latex based paints. Then all you need is a bucket of water and patience to do every step properly.

I don't often write reviews. But wow, this made painting 4 rooms in my new apt so much easier! The assembly and usage instructions are exceptionally clear and simple. This is such a great way to minimize the supplies and mess needed for traditional painting. I dont know what painting materials cost, but compared to the cost of the paint, I thought this roller was quite reasonable. There were only 2 slight drawbacks, but I didn't mind them at all given how easy this roller made my job. The first is that I think this uses more paint than a traditional roller. A lot washed out when I cleaned it and I think it lays a lot of paint down on the wall (but it looks great so who cares). Also, this does get a bit heavy as you're painting the top parts of the walls (im short). But both are to be expected and ultimately not a big deal at all when I consider how helpful this tool was.

It is a bad product and not worth for money. Worst part is I requested for a return and the seller has not contacted me for 2 months. Whenever I call them, they say i would get a mail from seller and Amazon cannot do anything. I don't understand their logic. Don't go for this product.

Saves reloading roller all the time and is much cleaner to us and reasonable price and quick delivery

I've been thru three of these now and have painted about 2500sqft using the Wagner Smart Roller. Wagner needs to come up with a better system or just discontinue these. The first one we had seemed to work fine and I painted three rooms and a couple ceilings with it. They really suck to clean up and take quite a while to clean. If you are using it for a single project and just want to recycle it after you're done, then it's a marginal cost and you can treat it as "disposable." If you want to reuse it plan to spend a long time at your sink disassembling and scrubbing. Many have complained about the duckbill valve for filling. I never had this part fail, but did find that to get a seal that is reliable you need to press the roller's valve completely flat against the lid when filling. We did get one roller of the three that i could not get to fill at all. I sent that back for a replacement.Overall, i'd say this is a timesaving tool, but it does not paint as well as a regular roller and pan. It also seems to depend on the type of paint you use. We used Sherwin Williams Emerald paint for our paint projects and painted over the junky builder's paint that came in our house. The crappy paint that builders tend to use requires a lot of work to cover. The Smart Roller seemed like a good option to help make that faster. But, after comparing an area i did with a regular roller and extension handle with the smart roller section the difference was night and day. With the smart roller there were patches all over that had to be repainted (not just minor touchup) on the second coat. After doing a second coat with the Smart Roller there were STILL many patchy areas. With the roller and pan a second coat resulted in just very tiny spots that required touch-up using a brush (size of a quarter or so).From a design standpoint I think Wagner should make a decision about whether or not this product is disposable. The way it's built now is pretty flimsy and it does not hold up to multiple uses very well. I think some of the problems we had might have been, in part, because it's really hard to have any sort of pressure with the smart roller unless you can push directly down the length of the roller. For areas where I had to reach with the roller it was very hard to apply even enough pressure to get the paint out of the roller cover because the entire shaft of the Smart Roller deflects under pressure. If Wagner were to make one of these types of items out of aluminum or something more durable and provide a better suction mechanism it might be a good investment for DIYers. We looked at their electric pump roller that costs about $100 and decided that was a joke as well after reading all of the negative experiences people had and finding that the pump is not controllable (either off/on). It seems best to me that Wagner discontinue this Smart Roller as it's a waste of time with clean-up and touch up if you're using a thicker paint and make their electric roller controllable so it can be turned on/off while painting without having to power it on/off at the paint canister.Overall, if you're looking to use this with a high end paint like Sherwin Williams Emerald paint i would recommend that you stick with the regular roller and pan. By a good extension handle if needed and some good roller covers and you'll probably be much happier in the end. We even added Floetrol to help spread the paint and make it thinner. THis died nothing to help with the re-coating that we had to do. if you're paining a thinner paint this might work ok, but for thicker paints it seems to be more of a headache than anything.

This product works very well -Except!!!When this product works it is a time saver. Two problems exist with this product. First, it has to be primed with paint before it will suck the paint and fill the tube. This is a minor problem.A major problem is that the whole design relies upon a rubber bladder with a slit in it to seal it and allow refilling the tube with paint.The problem is that this rubber seal, which is the size a quarter, easily and usually fails after using it a few times. Even a tiny amount of paint will keep the seal's slit open and allow copious amounts of paint to squirt out the refill opening.I recommend Wagner redesign this refill seal. It becomes a very messy problem once the seal starts to leak.
