I have a waist fan that cost $40 and needed a second one. I wanted to see how one that costs less than half that price would compare, so I ordered the Charmp fan.The Charmp fan came in a small box with a charging cable, lanyard and instructions. I noted the following differences between my $40 waist fan and the Charmp fan:I can hang both fans around my neck with the detachable lanyard, or clip it to my waist using the belt clip. The $40 fan also allows me to rotate the belt clip a full 360 degrees to set any angle I want. Both fans have a second clip on the opposite side to clip to my shirt if I want the fan to blow up my shirt. The Charmp fan is made of hard plastic, whereas the $40 fan has an outer layer of soft silicone rubber to protect it from drops. The Charmp USB-C charge port is exposed, whereas the $40 fan protects the charging port under a rubber flap that also covers a USB-A port to use the internal battery as a power bank to charge other devices. Neither fan has a waterproof rating. Both fans have a switch to select fan speeds and light functions. I like that the Charmp fan has a battery level/fan speed display that faces upwards where I can easily see it, instead of on the side like the $40 fan. On the other hand, the flashlight on the $40 fan is on the side so you can wear the fan on your hip and light your way, whereas the Charmp fan’s light is on the top and points upward. The battery in the Charmp will run 29 hours at the lowest fan speed. The $40 fan will run 67 hours. So, if you had to only buy one fan, which would I recommend? If you can easily recharge after 29 hours (or less with higher fan speeds) of use, save your money and buy the Charmp. It works exactly as you would expect, providing you with a nice breeze that will keep you cool on hot days. If you will be away from power, like multi-day hikes or camping, or during an extended power failure, then look at the more expensive models like my $40 one which will run up to 67 hours.
