I found that the 25X eyepiece that ships with most microscopes degrades the image too much to be very satisfying to use. This 16X eyepiece gives you a magnification boost without much loss of image quality, and it's the only one I use now.

I was nervous about getting two of these for my stereo microscope, they need to match perfectly, or they will distort your vision and make them useless. I have a pair of 25X eyepieces, and they are not the same magnification. These however will work fine and are a great quality for the price.
