The welds are total dog crap! I'm not a professional welder by trade and neither is the person who welded the Walker 56044 resonator exhaust pipe, I purchased. Knowing how bad the welds are, I now feel the need to go over and reweld their lack of quality control, and give their product a longer lifespan than what, they're selling.

Welds were open to air. Quick zinc spray, I hope that helped. Fit perfectly on a 2002 Outback Base.

Resonator has pinhole where there should be no holes. We'll have to have the mechanic put a small bead there don't have time to send back. People need their car.

I needed a new resonator pipe for my ol’ Outback, and a new pipe needs new gaskets. Twenty years is a good run for exhaust parts…

Despite Amazon's part matcher telling me this does not fit my 2006 Subaru Baja Sport (non turbo), Walker's website told me it was a direct fit. Put it on today and it is in fact a direct fit. Replaced the mid pipe and muffler today, just cut them off because the flange was rusted away. It was a quick and easy job, done in an hour. The piece is well made, I sprayed all of the welds with high temp paint to try and keep them rust free a little bit longer. Well made part, not the first time I have used Walker parts, and definitely not the last.

Perfect fit for my 2001 Subaru outback. I cleaned the entire thing with brake clean and painted it with 2000 degree engine enamel and a few coats of high temp clear coat. Did the same with muffler.EDIT* As of June 25 2018 the resonator body busted off the flange in the rear. The welds are good but the exhaust tubing is too thin. I couldnt even have it welded back together as the material is too thin :(

Great pipe all around. Local brick and mortar stores don't typically have this item in stock so we would have to wait. Even with shipping, the assembly was lots cheaper than purchasing locally. THe 2002 Subaru Outback this went on was missing the pipe completely (!) This made for a very loud commute to work to say the least.Make sure you consult the diagram and order all the proper bolts, gaskets, and gasket ring for a easy installation (all sold separately) and available on Amazon. Look on the Walker website for a complete diagram of the part numbers. The only thing we found we needed was a few extra washers to ensure the bolts didn't pull through the other down pipe. You will def need an angle grinder, eye protection, good jackstands/ramps, and it helps to have a spare jackstand to hold while you are doing this. Of course, if you are thinking about tackling this job you probably already know this. Otherwise, this item was a perfect fit and not too bad to install. I am sure this would have been a $350+ job at your local chain muffler shop.

It's almost two years old now and while there is surface rust at the welds, it will probably last a couple more years. For the money, I have no complaints. It won't last as long as OEM, not even close but it's half the cost too. And those of us with cars over 200,000 miles probably don't need an exhaust pipe to last 11 years anyway.I do wish Walker would aluminize the pipe AFTER they weld. The welds come with rust already started even when new.EDIT (8/8/13): Last week I was on the road and the back of the pipe fell completely off the flange. I paid a muffler shop to weld in a piece to get me home but I'm done with this garbage. I bought a used OEM pipe in great shape from CA for $99, my original lasted almost 11 years. The flanges get thinner and thinner on the originals until the gasket fails. I think the flanges are 400 series stainless on the OEM pipes as are the tubes. Anyway, I would never buy this mid pipe again, it's junk.If you don't mind using the warranty every three years and the joy of cutting off the bolts to get this off, go ahead. The problem with replacing the subaru resonator is it often needs the donut gasket ($20) and the bolts ($26 or you can get crap bolts for $10). And the flange gasket ($4). So you're out those things and the time every three years. OK, if you need to get a car through inspection before selling it I guess. Moving it up to three stars for the lifetime warranty and it looks like you might be able to get a Walker authorized shop to do the work for free if you supply the gaskets and bolts. I've got one of these on my honda and the parts aren't as much, I might try to find a shop when it quits on me since OEM honda pipes are much harder to find used than Subaru.
