I bought the triple unit because the headline said Oak--which matched my bookshelves, 1/2" thick shelves, which should hold up well. What I got was a pressed board (chips of wood held together with glue) unit with a laminate (plastic) covering that is "oak colored." I should have returned it as soon as I saw the box. It was obviously not what the headline said it was, but the box was so large and heavy I saw no way to take it somewhere to ship back.I should have stuck with my first impression.Instead I put it together--barring getting two pieces from the importer/manufacturer of record racks-n-cabinets.com to replace broken pieces in the box.The design obscures 4 CDs per shelf (two on each end) if you put them at the back of the shelf. The shelves are so thin--1/4", NOT 1/2"--that I expect they will warp and sag almost immediately.Basically, this thing would be a great buy at Wal-Mart for $99-$125. At nearly $300, it's a total joke.

Do not buy this DVD storage rack. Check out other DVD storage units offered by Amazon. The assembly instructions are horrible and lack essential assembly details. Additionally, the storage rack I received had the holes for the cam assembly drilled on the wrong side of two key portions of the rack. The shelves are too thin and sag with weight. Also, two corners of the frame are very weak. I had one that was actually damaged. I had to repair the corner with wood glue and small frame nails I had during assembly.Due to the issues with the cam assembly holes, I was forced to "modify" the assembly of the shelves by using black screws that accompanied the rack parts and attach the four front panel strips with the screws.I got the rack assembled and, with my modifications, I was able to make the rack more stable. While I had planned on buying this DVD storage again for additional storage space, I have elected not to.This is the first time I have been disappointed by a product order fulfilled by one of Amazon's sellers. I do not fault the seller of the product as the problems and shortfalls of this product fall into the lap of the American company that manufactured the DVD Rack.

My initial shipment was damaged by FedEx, but the seller sent me another set to pick my needed parts from, returning the rejects. It was straight-forward to assemble, and best of all, it looks very handsome and well made on the wall. We're very pleased!

The unit is just like the pictures show EXCEPT the shelves are VERY lightweight and even using all the clips available on the back and sides on each shelf there is already a slight sag to them when I have loaded no more than half a shelf of CD's on each shelf. Looks like I'll have to find some way to brace them more or replace the shelves.

This is an incredible storage center. Incredibly easy to assemble with a professional finish that makes it look a lot more expensive than it cost. I have purchased a PrePac unit and never will again. If I need any more media units, I will only purchase those made by Venture Horizon.Sturdy, easy to assemble, professional finish.

So here's the deal: You, like me, want a single wall unit that will fit all of your games. You have a lot of games, and they are currently on a whole plethora of different racks. You want to consolidate into a single media storage unit, but you don't want to waste floor space. That's where this behemoth of a media storage rack comes in.I couldn't, after weeks of research, find any other wall mountable rack that is this large or bigger. So I bought it, and put the sucker together, which is time consuming, but very easy. Obviously, it's all MDF, you're not going to get anything else at this price. But for what I paid, the shelves should be a little sturdier. The shelves on this unit are about 1/4" thick and bow. I am not impressed at all with this. My current floor standing units which are about 60% the capacity of this Venture Horizon, and were less than half the price, are made of dramatically sturdier MDF materials. I have a feeling these shelves will all be bowed down in permanent plastic deformation within a year. I will probably end up replacing them out at some point. Also of note, which is the case with almost any wall mountable storage unit: the trim pieces on the vertical dividers cover up the outermost DVD/game. I have way too many video games to go around wasting valuable space with empty filler cases. I would lose 24 spots if I filled up every divider overlap! That's not worth it to me. It's not a terrible thing, but it's something to keep in mind if you want to be able to see every single case from an orthogonal viewing angle. The superstructure of this unit is very sturdy and is held into place with pre-tapped screw and cam systems, along with a few wood screws. Keep in mind that the factory tolerances will not be perfect, and the further into assembly you progress, the fewer holes will line up. If you want to prevent splitting the MDF, I would recommend keeping a drill handy and pre-drilling the corrected holes. Why the three stars you ask? Well, it looks pretty nice, the structure itself (excluding the flimsy shelves) is sturdy, and it's the biggest wall mountable shelf out there. But it has shortcomings. Just because it's the only option, doesn't make it the best one. If you're like me, you're stuck, and you buy this and you live with it. I have no regrets, I'm glad I bought it.Update 9/8/2015: Hey guess what? All of the shelves are bowed down. But if you flip them around they will go straight again, maybe this is a process to repeat every few years?

The box that it came it was beat up but all the pieces inside were well protected and not damaged. It wasn't too difficult to build (You'll need two people to help lift it to hang on the wall), however the instructions were horrible. They were not clear and made no sense. A lot of it was luck and a lot of scratching your head hoping it was done right. It seemed flimsy at first, but once it was all built it was secure. It's expensive but I wanted something to hang on the wall where my dog could not get to it, this is exactly what I wanted, And it looks great. Here's a pic...
