I have two of these and they are lots of fun. But they are just not for pre-teens because they don't understand the hinges. Generally, boys will try to hang from the string or force the hinges without depressing the release and then you'll need to get out the screwdrivers and wood glue to fix them. No fun.But if you are all adults, these are a lot of casual fun. IMO it's all about consistency in the throw. It's not a easy game to start but with a few tips, you'll get the hang of it soon enough. This kit comes with all the hardware and the instructions are clear. I did notice the instructions don't tell you how high to mount it but I think that's OK to accommodate short people. It's not like darts where there is a standard and even if I'm not correct and there is a standard, it's OK to set it up at any height that makes sense for you.It will put marks on your walls if you miss the hook so that's something to consider. One of mine is mounted in my finished basement and the wall is fairly scuffed up and the second is mounted outside in the door of my shed and I think this one will get more use. Conclusion: It's a fun, casual adult game that starts off impossible and tends to get easier as you play and find your sweet spot. It's easy to set up and mount but scuffs walls.

I have played ring toss and various bars, friends' porches and the like, so I was familiar with the game. This Circle Craft version of the game is really nice for home use. It would look great in your porch, game room, or where ever you hang out with family and friends.Setting it up was straight forward and easy enough. I was concerned that the hinges would make this flimsy or rickety, but the hinges are high quality and sturdy, so the game feels solid and isn't any less quality for being able to be folded, which is a really nice feature to fold the arm down when you're not going to be playing it.I've played ring toss on setups ranging from small table top versions at breweries to a friend's porch that had about 8 feet of rope hooked to a high porch ceiling. This one is large enough to be fun and challenging for kids or adults.

I don't know why people don't give fully detailed instructions anymore. This is an awesome game. Made well and looks awesome in person. But it's not easy to figure out how to hook the string. I would have given 5 star if it weren't for that.

I purchased this ring toss game because I have played this many times at my local watering hole outdoors in the summertime. The one I'm used to playing has quite a bit longer of a cord and a distance to the hook so this one I could see would be much easier to get the ring on the hook. It was not difficult to assemble except threading the cord through the two holes on the horizontal arm which, at first glance, seemed like it would be difficult as the holes are very small. The cord is in some way heat sealed at the ends to prevent shredding so poking it through the two holes took a couple of minutes and was easier than I thought it was going to be. The instructions and pictures are not that good and seeing how the cord went through the silver retaining ball/clip was something that I had to figure out. Now you're supposed to adjust the length of the cord so the ring, when extended to the hook, touches the base of the hook where it is screwed into the wood. It seems like they give you just about twice the length of the cord needed but I assume that's in case you somehow damage the cord, I'm not sure. The cord being tied onto the ring is not as simple as it looks because the cord is slippery and it could pull the knot apart but I succeeded in securing it properly. The two square score markers, one blue one red, slide up and down The board with numbers on it and are just held in place by friction, When I first opened the box, the red one was broken in half but I just glued it together and it's fine now. They are quite fragile so you have to be careful with them. So all that said, when I had completed all the assembly and mounted it on my wall outside my house on my deck and tried it out It was quite fun! Bring on the jello shots!

This set is mostly good. I can't say for sure it's teak, although that might explain the high price for what is otherwise a wood board cut and drilled on a CNC machine. I'm not sure I feel the need to keep score, but I guess if you're competitive the scoring might be a bonus. The good:-overall nice quality-decent size-the folding mechanism to drop the arm is cleverly done and works well-assembly was mostly easyThe less than perfect:-the included screws are abysmally low quality. I used an impact driver to install this and one of the screw heads snapped off as soon as it got tight. So now the board is more permanently attached than I wanted-the scoring sliders don't fit well and continually get knocked out during game play. After less than 10 minutes of use, we'd already given up on them-The holes for the string at the end of the arm were very small, and it was a struggle to feed the string through them-The top screw hole was recessed to keep the screw head flush, but the bottom screw hole was not. It's a weird little oversight but as a hobbyist woodworker it bugs me that they're inconsistent.Overall, it's a reasonable quality version of a classic game. Price seems a little high for a block of wood with a hook and an arm with a string on it. If I wasn't getting this for free on vine, I might have just made my own out of some scrap wood, without the scoring system. But if that's not your thing, this isn't a bad way to go. Just upgrade the screws before you mount it.
