Pot holders, oven mitts, lunch bags, water heater cover, ironing board cover and casserole covers are all projects made functional and safe with Insul-Bright. Insul-Bright consists of hollow, polyester fibers needle-punched through a nonwoven substrate and through a reflective metalized poly film. The needled material is breathable and won't break down with washing. The hollow fibers resist conduction while the reflective metalized poly film resists radiant energy. The energy, hot or cold, is reflected back to its source. NOTE: This fill is heat resistant not heat proof. Machine wash and tumble dry. Made in USA.

I use this in hot pads and oven mitts. It's perfect and works well to help with insulation so the heat doesn't transfer. I did read everything on the package and it does tell you it's not microwave safe. It also recommends adding a layer of cotton batting for further insulation. This did take awhile to ship but it got to me when promised. It's a great product and it's easy to work with.

I've been using Insul-Bright along with another layer of batting for a long time to make these hanging towels for charities. When tops are open flat over the towel they make perfect hot pads to put on tables or counters to protect them from hot pans or casseroles.
