This washerable paper was not what I expected. The material is very interesting. I am an avid crafter and sew a lot, so I am always doing projects. Since it is not what I expected I have not used it yet, but am trying to come up with some things to use it for. The material seems to be of decent quality and to be versatile. It is more like "vegan leather" than washable paper. I wish the product came with information about care for it (ideas for uses would be great as well). Overall it seems worth the purchase if you have a use for it, just be aware of what you are actually getting.Rating System⭐️ 1 star= Disappointed. I'm reviewing "Washerble Kraft Paper Roll - 19.5"x58.5" Sewable Kraft Paper Fabric for Bag Making - Durable, Degradable and Washable Paper Material for DIY Foldable Grocery Bags (GZ10)" which I received via the VINE program.This is COOL stuff! I do a lot of sewing and have used SO many different types of fabric in projects but I have never seen this washable kraft paper. I saw it and thought it would be interesting to try out.It feels, looks and behaves a lot like waxed canvas. It's able to be folded, sewn, washed, ironed, washed, dried….. It's really cool!!!I decided to make a quick tote bag to put my lunch and smaller items in for work. I had some webbing for handles and used that.It cut easily with both scissors and a rotary cutter. I was able to use both frixion markers and a Chaco chalk marker to mark measurements and lines for handle placement. I didn't bother using pins but instead used clips to hold the pieces in place.It sewed well, but If I make anything else with it, I would use a heavy duty or industrial machine. I have a Bernina 880+ that I used, a size 16 needle and 12wt denim thread. On double layers, it sewed very well, no issues, but when sewing over seams on a folded over seam allowance, it was close to 4-6 layers and my machine had to really work to get through all those layers.Turning it from wrong side to right side is tough, however, my hands are somewhat arthritic and I don't have a ton of hand strength so I did struggle with it some, but a thick canvas fabric would do the same, I don't see it as a bad thing, just mentioning that you may have to wrestle with it some.I really like this stuff!!! It's unique and so very interesting! One of the other reviewers likened it to vegan leather and that is a good comparison, I think it's more like waxed canvas. I would mention that some preliminary folding/creasing may make the final product easier to work with, but I also like the look of lots of creasing and texture so there's that too. I will definitely add this to my repertoire of materials that I use!!

I was really surprised when I received this order because based on the product description, I was expecting something completely different. I thought this paper fabric would be more like the material used in free promotional totes that businesses often print logos on. Instead, this is a very thick, stiff fabric that mimics leather and is often called "vegan leather". There are many products like this on the market but this one seems more affordable. I have watched several free online tutorials on ideas for using vegan leather and how to sew and wash it. This information is sadly missing from the product description for this item and I think they would sell a lot more if they explained what this product is and instructions for how to use it and wash it.I began by cutting the 58.5" length in half and washing one half in my washing machine. This product becomes softer and has more of a worn leather look to it the more you wash and crumple it. I washed it on warm on my regular cotton setting and then dried the piece on medium for about 20 minutes. The bright lime green color did not bleed at all. I wiped the inside of washer with a white towel and also the surface of the wet kraft paper and there was no green color transfer. It came out of the drier without much difference in feel or texture from the original unwashed piece. I ironed it on a cotton setting using a press cloth and it set the creases for the bag edges very well without damage to the iron or paper. Holes are permanent (unlike regular woven fabric such as cotton) so plan your project before stitching.Using some tips found online, I sewed a simple gift bag (see photos of front and side). The kraft fabric was easily cut with a rotary cutter and mat and went through my sewing machine without problems. I tested a denim needle and also a "sharp" #80 needle and preferred the #80 as it left smaller holes. I set the stitch length to a longer stitch so the holes were further apart and didn't create a perforated line that would be susceptible to tearing. I used regular weight poly/cotton sewing thread and a walking foot on my machine. It was very easy to sew the paper when flat but I forgot to sew the handles on before construction of the bag so it was very difficult to push the stiff folded material through the machine. To hide some extra holes and the crooked stitching on the handles, I added a painted faux stitch detail with my artist grade acrylic pens and it worked beautifully!This is a fun fabric to have in my stash and I can think of many ways to use it such as in mixed media artwork, cutting shaped tags for gifts, making a variety of bags and wallets, using for applique, and more! I think it is worth the money to order a roll and experiment if you are at all crafty! I have never used a product like this so can't compare it to other brands out there. I plan on washing and massaging some pieces to see how this changes the texture and feel.

I have sewn for a hundred years. I’ve played with paper for years more. But I’ve never heard of washable paper. I am very impressed with this product! It’s thicker than any other paper product but thicker in paper has always meant stiffer. This almost feels like a thicker fabric yet you know it isn’t. I have some I am planning to use as a small tote bag which I will sew together when I get the sewing machine out. I’ve cut some to make for the covers for my notebooks I make with my spiral binder. I will be getting more of this stuff for sure! The colors are deep and very appealing.
