I've been running PoE cameras on my LAN 24/7 using the 8-year-old Trendnet TPE-S44 PoE switch. Decided to power my new Google Nest Camera (2nd Gen, outdoor battery) with it, and it's been flawless – just plug and play. You do need the right PoE switch or injector that supports IEEE 802.3af at 48V DC (15W per port). The Nest cam shows infinity battery on Google Home app.However, there are a few drawbacks. The size is quite large, if you're aiming to fit it inside a security camera junction box, you will be disappointed. Additionally, it tends to run pretty warm as it down-volts from 48V to 5V. Still good if you are replacing existing PoE camera coz you can reuse the Cat5/6 cable. But keep in mind, RJ45 isn't weatherproof. It would be 5 stars if they redesign this to make it smaller to fit inside a junction box.

It’s pretty good and working perfectly for me, I just don't know why the plugging head is so big. Also it’s not cheap.

We used this product to replace IP cameras with Nest at the customers request. The new Nest cameras are tricky with power, these did a great job powering and making them run right out of the box.

Item works as expected, but there is a lack of information on what type of POE injector you need. There isn't even a mention in the instructions in the box! I can confirm you will need a 48V POE injector.

Update: I ordered one of these adapters from Home Depot instead of Amazon and was pleased to get a different Date Code (this time it was 1025222360) and it worked correctly. I'm leaving the overall rating as 1 star simply to draw attention to the fact that obviously the quality control on these devices is suspect in general, even though technically I did get one to work correctly.I first ordered four of these and none work. Once the adapter is plugged in to the camera the amber and green lights start blinking rapidly and the switch cable test reports a short. I ordered replacement devices hoping to get a different manufacturing lot (different Date Code) but they were they same unfortunately and they also do not work.I can definitely believe another recent review (2/2/23) that found these were wired up/built incorrectly.I am emailing with Wasserstein customer support to see if there’s a way to get a different manufacturing lot and hopefully those will be wired correctly.

We ordered and tested 10 units. We found they do not work at all at least the batch we got.We install dozens of the cameras on homes and thought they would work. There was almost no Tech.support and no 800 #So we bench tested a bunch and this is what we found. The included Nest Google cable has 5 volts dc with pin 1 as negative and pin 4 as positiveWe tried the POE Adapter and found that these units are wired BACKWARDS with. Pin 1 as positive and pin 4 as negativeAll ten units are bad and built wrongI sure hope new batches will work as I ordered more and returned thoseWe shall see .3/10/23 We just got 1- new units from Wasserstien and also 4 more thru Amazon. They all work now. YEAH! My only comment still is the size of the POE Injector and the long wire. It will be tricky to put all that into a wall behind the Camera. We shall see next week as we mount dozens of these cameras.

Finally this is available in the UK so that power over ethernet can be delivered to the new gen Nest camera. Works well, haven't had a hitch. Requires PoE injector and a network cable (not included).

I bought two of these PoE adapters to make my New Google Nest Outdoor Cams (battery) powered by PoE from my PoE Switch. I’m not sure why the negative reviews but I don’t let negative reviews stop me anymore because it seems there are a lot of factors why a product doesn’t work. If you don’t have a PoE Switch that these get powered from, they won’t work. If you’re trying to use this with the wrong cameras, they probably won’t work. I’m not saying you can’t receive a faulty product, it happens to the best of companies. Mine have been running for about 4 months and they have been working great so far! I’m so glad someone decided to make these because these really are a game changer going from battery only to powered 24/7/365 via PoE.
