I'll start by saying this is being used for an older desktop (8th gen Intel i7) that recently started having issues with it's built-in WiFi 5 (802.11ac) adapter. After using it for a day, it's been solid and the speeds are impressively faster than I've ever experienced on the computer. Here's a breakdown of my thoughts:- The speeds were noticeably faster. I pay for 500/Mbps download and upload speeds and this WiFi adapter got a consistent 450Mbps (download and upload) on each of the 5 tests performed. The computer is in the basement and roughly 50 feet away from where the router is placed on our first floor. I used to get roughly 200Mbps speeds before with the built-in adapter.- I like the ability to turn the blue activity light on/off by tapping the touch sensitive button on the base of the adapter.- Make sure you disable your old WiFi adapter in Device Manager so your computer will only attempt to use the Wavlink adapter moving forward.- I like that the adapter is also seen as an external drive so you can install the drivers very easily. No more hunting for drivers online.- Make sure you plug the WiFi adapter into a USB 3.0 port and not an older USB 2.0 port. This will help you achieve the top advertised speeds. The included USB 3.0 cable could be a bit longer though.Overall, for the price, this isn't a bad option!

This is a very nice WiFi adapter. It came in nice, but simple packaging. It included the adapter and a USB-C to USB 3 cable and that is all that is needed. Note that this is a Windows only adapter. I am not sure if there are linux drivers and Apple does not allow third party adapters. It shows to be a Realtek 8832CU chipset. When first plugged into a Windows PC, the adapter appears as a CD drive with the software ready to install (screenshot attached). After installing the software, the drive disappears and does not remount unless the software is removed.I connected to our guest network with a speed of 1201 Mbps. That is a significant improvement over the Intel chipset built into my Dell PC. I was getting around 700 Mbps on the internal chipset. I suspect that the antennas on the external adapter give it a big advantage over the internal antenna. The adapter looks really neat. It stands 7 inches tall with the antennas fully vertical. The antennas can be articulated many ways to suit your needs.I really like the simplicity of this WiFi adapter and have been impressed with the speeds I am getting. Speed tests are subject to many variables and I am not trying to push this to its limit. Getting a 50% increase in speed versus the internal 6E WiFi is enough for me. Overall, I recommend this adapter if you need more speed and have a router to support it.

The AX5400 USB WiFi 6E Adapter is very simple to setup on a laptop / PC, plug in the USB A to the computer, the C plug to the Adaptor, power on the computer and, after booting, there will be a "CD Drive" listed that contains the driver for the adaptor, installation takes just a few seconds and the adaptor appears in the list of Wifi connections. Select your own network and enter the password (or press the WPS button on your router) and connection is swiftly established.I've used the adaptor on my laptop, which is getting on a bit and its wireless connection was never particularly good, and the signal strength, even through a double brick wall, has remained consistent enough to move files to and from my NAS without errors - previously I had to bring the laptop into the same room as the router to move photos / video to the NAS if I wanted any real speed of transfer.I liked the ability to turn off the blue illuminated logo with just a touch, makes it less distracting! I didn't notice any appreciable difference with the antennas set upright for space saving, or splayed outward for versatility, although if used for gaming, the preferred splayed arrangement might prove more stable. The AX5400 USB WiFi 6E Adapter just works, nothing to mark down about it!

This thing is ridiculously big, like so big that if I made it, I'd probably just put a little router in it too and have it work as a repeater and register as a CDC ethernet device for USB. It's got a sort of obnoxious blue LED ring on top, which rumor has it can be turned off. Looking inside, the little daughterboard for the LEDs is easily big enough to contain an entire OpenWRT router. It's based on the RTL8832CU chip, which works fine on Windows, using the drivers included on the magic-USB-storage function that's included with the adapter, or you can download newer ones and install them before plugging it in. It can also be gotten working on Linux, albeit with out-of-tree drivers that aren't shipped with any standard distro. If you've got a Mac, good luck to you.All the usual features are here, MIMO, WPA3, and the 6 GHz band (not working properly with the Linux drivers due to some sort of proprietary regulatory claptrap).I'm not sure what the target market is for this thing. Gamers would probably prefer to be on ethernet, or have an internal M.2/PCIe adapter. Business travelers probably would prefer not to carry something the size of a second laptop. Perhaps it's the coffee-shop warrior market, people who want to look very impressive while consuming overpriced coffee and prompting an LLM to generate their next self-published book.

Comes in a retail box with a short usb a to c cable and instructions.Easy to set up, just plug it in and run the install for the drivers located on a virtual cd drive that appears in your computer.Im using this as a wifi adapter to connect my pc to my hotspot and Initially it worked perfectly as i had my hot spot set for 2.4ghz, i then changed it to 6ghz and thats where the problems started. My hot spot is my samsung s24 ultra (2024 model) that has 2.4ghz,5ghz and 6 ghz options for its hotspot and windows 10 (updated to latest version) would not connect at all to my phone when i set it to performance at 6ghz and i had to set my hotspot down to 5ghz and so far its working perfectly at that speed. The drivers contained on the device are the latest available (5001.19.113.3) as i checked for newer drivers as well as a firmware update which this device may need to get it to work at 6ghz but currently there is no firmware or newer drivers available on the wavlink site.I also tried using this in a USB 3.2 Gen2, Type C port with a known good usb c to usb c cable (20gbps 240watt) as welland the same issues occured with the 6ghz setting.I have yet to test this as a hotspot but if i cant use it at 6ghz as an adapter i doubt its going to work correctly the other way.The price at the time of ordering was £49.99 and if it worked as advertised it would be acceptable but currently if you want a 6E adapter this is not it, a 3.5 star at best unfortunately.
