This is quite literally everything I could hope for in a shop apron/belt, no exaggeration. At $50, I was expecting a low-quality product - some thin canvas apron with weak stitching and cheap buckles, but Readywares blew me away. The material:Almost intimidatingly thick, sturdy canvas with a durable weave and heavy stitching. While stiff at first, it's loosening up with wear.Pockets:Easy to access, large, no-nonsense open-top pockets. They're securely attached and don't cause everything to flop forward and imbalance when loaded. The chest pencil pockets are a tight fit, but I'm hoping they become more pliable after use. Loops on both hips are a nice touch, as I can put a hammer on either side; this should be a feature on all belts.Straps:Plenty of straps on the back to customize the fit, but not so many you get tangled. Two shoulder straps, an upper-back connector, and a waist strap with buckle. I'm a smaller guy, so being able to cinch everything down is great. In addition, there's no neck strap to chafe or choke when the apron is loaded. They even added a belt-loop on the waist strap to store excess after tightening.Weight distribution:It's almost like a reverse hiking backpack, which in hindsight makes a lot of sense. The pads on the shoulder straps really take comfort over the top. I thought I'd want to remove them, but they're comfortable and not bulky.Fit:I'm 5'8", and it reaches to upper-thigh.I've used aprons, belts, bags, and pretty much anything else you can think of for work, but this apron is the first to not have anything that bugs me after a few hours of use. It all just makes sense and is well-made.I would happily buy this again, but it's such high-quality it might outlive me.

UPDATE (10/3/2018): After 10 months of hard use, I can now say that I'm extremely impressed with this product. My earlier concerns regarding the durability of the plastic buckles were unfounded. The canvas has broken in nicely and all the stitching has held up well. The design is still excellent and very utilitarian.I do want to add one more item of note that should be highlighted to potential buyers. A few days after posting my original review highlighting the issues in the stitching of the hammer loop, I received a package in the mail from Readywares. Without my requesting it, they had sent me a new apron! I found this to be very impressive for two reasons. First, they obviously read their feedback and take it to heart. And second, they took the initiative to send me a new apron without me asking for it. This kind of proactive approach to customer service is refreshing and has made me a Readywares fan for life. So, after 10 months hard use, what are the new ratings?Design: Still an A+.Materials: Upgrading this to a A-. Everything has held up well.Construction: Upgrading to a A- since the new apron they sent me didn't have the same issues as the first one.Customer Service: Giving this an A+++. This is a new category since my original review, but they deserve it.Overall: Upgrading this to an A. Buy without hesitation.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Original Review (posted December 2017)Design (A+) This is a well designed tool apron. The harness strap layout is well thought out and runs over the shoulders and across in the back, rather than behind the neck which is problematic if one intends to do more than look cool wearing an unloaded tool apron (lets say, by woodworking for example). The shoulder pads are a nice touch and stay in place. The pocket layout is well thought out and diverse in size for housing various items, and the canvas material of the apron is robust and stylish. The design is a good overall length also, not too long which can be an annoyance and, frankly, dangerous in a shop with rotating machinery.Materials (C): As I stated earlier, the canvas used for the apron is robust and stylish. It is heavy duty, but not too heavy or hot (lets just say that Alabama summers aren’t known for their moderate temps or low humidity). However, the strap material seems to be cheap nylon webbing and the cross-back bracket and buckles are all plastic. Upon first inspection is difficult to imagine they will last even one year without cracking or breaking under normal use. If they do, I’ll update this review but as of now I’m less than confident.Construction (B- / F): Upon first receiving the apron and adjusting it to fit, I loaded a few tools (block plane, square, pencil, etc) into the various pockets. Imagine my dismay at placing a 16oz light framing hammer into the nylon loop for hammers and hearing that audible “pop!” of stitches snapping. Inspecting my brand new apron, it was clear that the end of the loop that is sewn in behind one of the pockets had not been fully inserted, and so was only partially stitched to begin with. QC must’ve been out to lunch I guess. Naturally, the first time I placed any reasonable load on the loop, it popped. This is clearly unacceptable, so “F”. So, why did I also give it a “B” then? In this case, the rest of the apron (with the exception of the straps) is well constructed even if it is not particularly well finished (loose threads here and there, a wander in the stitch line, noise-level cosmetic stuff, nbd really).Overall (B-): This is one of those cases where I wish the designers had compromised a bit less. I work in product design and manufacturing so I’m not ignorant to trying to hit a price point etc. But I’d have happily paid an extra $15 for metal (or at least more robust thermoplastic) buckles & brackets and better quality webbing for the straps. The design is really good, but the overall quality is lacking (due I’m sure in no small part to where it’s manufactured). My wife is a fantastic seamstress so I can have her remedy most of these issues but I wish Readywares had chosen to lean-in a bit more on their product.Would I recommend this product? Yes, but cautiously and with the caveat that someone in the house better know how to sew. This is close enough to the mark of being a really great product that it makes the miss all the more disappointing. Not disappointed in a bad way; more like disappointed because if Readywares can get this much right, they should’ve comprised a bit less.
