I ordered a split ear and browband version of this to see if my opinion would differ (maybe oil quality is different based on manufacturing staff?). Both were around the same.Perhaps this is me being spoiled by heavily oiled and quality American made tack over the years, but this headstall has no comparison to brands like Denis Moreland, Buckaroo leather, or Andrea Equine. There is no suppleness or oil content in this piece whatsoever, nor is the underside burnished properly, leaving a scratchy and rough feel.I gave Weaver another shot and purchased a latigo version of this headstall to see if it would be a little more supple. Nope. Even more dry, rough, and shriveled like a dog chew.I guess you really do get what you pay for. Save up a little more and look for a quality "heavy oiled" headstall from a brand similar to those I listed above (there are tons of great companies left out there)! This is a piece you will use and feel daily, treat it as an investment. Your horse will thank you!
