Works great for all my husbands photography needs. It's very lightweight and well constructed. He likes how it is compact so it is easy to carry from shoot to shoot. Also it is very easy to use. Practical Uses - single person headshots, multi-person/group shot fill light. Only con is that it is almost impossible to put back into the case after it is used.

It could be made a little bit studier, but for studio lighting it is perfect. I do real estate photography, so it gets opened and closed a lot. So far it is holding up OK for one year.

I purchased this umbrella and it works good, however I dislike the fact that it looks like a regular umbrella. I would of liked it if it had the color pattern as the picture shows however it does not. It is just a soft silver all that way.

I'm a big fan of Westcott's products and this silver umbrella is no exception. I was already using the similar sized collapsible shoot-through umbrella and really liking it, but it's not ideal for taking pictures in small rooms. Mainly because it reflects some light backwards as well as forwards, which can reflect in a small room and really effect the resultant lighting. So I thought I'd give the soft-silver a go, especially because it's pretty cheap to buy. And I am really happy, obviously it only throws light in one direction so I'm getting much better control in small rooms. The soft-silver finish also produces a fantastic soft light. It's not a full-on mirror finish, so it doesn't reflect as much light as, say, a silver reflector, but the light is very soft so this is a good feature in my book.

Unique double folding umbrella for the ultimate in portability. I use these umbrellas as part of a mobile lighting kit with Speedlights for the ultimate in portability.

I have two of these, one of which was purchased a few years ago. It works as well as any standard design umbrella of equal size for most applications. It is a bit more delicate due to the folding design, but that is what makes it so portable, so it is a small tradeoff. This newer model has a solid insert in the end of the shaft which prevents it from being crushed when clamped a bit tight near the end. I highly recommend this for a very good portable lighting kit.

I was intending to buy the white shoot through with the black cover as recommended by [...]. I didn't realize until I took it out of the box that it's a silver reflective umbrella. I kept it to use for occasions when I want more contrast and it wasn't worth the shipping to send it back and re-order the one I had wanted.I still needed a shoot through for a sitting and ended up at Calumet buying one in person- they didn't have it in this brand so I ended up buying an even better one that opens up like a real umbrella (with the push button and with stronger wires). Anyway, most photogs know exactly what they are getting with these lightweight umbrellas, they are very light, but not very strong and the wires bend very easily so you definitely need an assistant or sandbags if you plan to use outside. Inside, it would not be an issue unless someone were to trip over it!
