It's always irritating when you install something and the part fails shortly after. In the case of these boards, I could see condensation forming in the light housings just a couple days after installation. I even double checked that the bulbs were properly seated before installation and they seemed fine. The plan was to install LED bulbs but, it would be a waste now. Any water that finds its way into the housing is going to sit on the bulb socket and corrode it in no time. Also, the gasket that sits between the truck body and the board is so thick that you can't install the boards with it. More money wasted on something I can't use.

I put a pair of these on my '04 Excursion and then later, another pair on my '06 SD Crew. Both sets were lighted. They are sweet BUT, I did change out all the zinc hardware fro stainless and like a previous reviewer, threw an ss flat washer between the aluminum base and the steel brkts to eliminate any dissimilar corrosion, especially when wired with electric(albeit 12v). Dissimilar metals, w/electric is a corrosion disaster in the making. Spend a couple of extra bucks at your local hardware store for some stainless bolts and washers and you will still be thanking yourself years down the road.

Good product. I have an 03 excursion and needed to replace my running boards. Ford no longer makes the stock ones and these are as close to stock as I could find. The install was simple and straight forward. These look great but sturdy and strength wise are not equivalent to the stock ones. My originals were pretty much destroyed from off-roading and I am concerned about these holding up. The brackets are made of such that they would be more susceptible to catching on rough terrain where the stock ones would glide over obstacles. That being said if you are street only these will be a great drop-in replacement.

I am satisfied with the running boards. The are built solid. The built in lights are the problem. In reading the installation instructons you are told to seal the lights with silicone. I did do this. Water is still getting into the light bulb housing. I feel this is a very poor design flaw for Westin. I should have saved some money and got the plain running boards.

Replaced the original bulbs with LEDs. Fit great, not slippery at all.
