The button works and the dial works and how it works I do not know what it is for except to turn it on.There isn't an instruction manual to explain how to put the butane on even though I do not have any butane at the moment it still would have been nice to have a manual in my hand so I do not have to spend the time finding the information I need, like what are those red plastic sticks that came with it.I do like the looks of it. Nice bronze color (not yellow). Heavy therefore I know it is good quality copper metal.The handle is a bit to wide for me. I have a small wrist so I will not be able to use it with one hand and press the button at the same time.

This little blow torch works great. It's all metal and solidly built. And, it has some heft to it. The tarnished, old-timey look is covered in some sort of solid, varnished layer, so it ought to hold up well, too. Filling it was easy, just flip it upside down and hold the can of butane to the valve. The built-in needle on the can of butane worked fine, but there are a few plastic adapters included in the pack, too.There's no safety or failsafe on this thing, so some care needs to be taken. Getting a flame involves 2 steps: open the valve, then push the button. The flame remains active while the valve is open. And, that flame can be huge if the valve is opened up a lot. The ignition button functions reliably. Even when the gas valve is only opened a crack, there is zero problem in getting it to start. Also, I like that the device is fairly stable when standing upright. There's no fuel/air mixture, and it doesn't seem to need one. The flame is near perfect, with a bright blue cone right near the outlet.I like the simplicity of this device, but the lack of safety features might make it unsuitable for some people. This is not something to have around kids, as the gas valve can be opened directly. Also, some care needs to be taken when you're done using it, as well. The other gas torch that I use requires you to hold down the button to maintain the flame. On that unit, as soon as you release the button, the gas is shut off. On this new unit, though, the gas remains on until you manually close the valve. I have to remind myself not to set down the torch until after I've closed the valve.

This is a great looking and very functional butane torch for the kitchen. I have a old one that broke that had more plastic pieces and this one feels so much more durable in comparison. Every piece is brass colored metal, it's heavy in the hand and feel sturdy.The exterior is coated in a thin transparent clearcoat so it holds it's beautiful bronze color well.It fills easily and although it doesn't hold quite as much as some others, I prefer the size of it. The base can also be unscrewed to make filling easier if needed.The only drawback is that this could possibly be more dangerous than other butane torches. There is no child safety switch or "Off" lock on it. Instead, when the knob is twisted the gas starts to flow and is quickly and easily lit with the button, which makes it great for kitchen use but not ideal around kids so just keep it away from them. They would still have to twist the knob and then depress the push igniter on the backside which takes a bit of force, but it should be mentioned.

My old torch stopped lighting. It was always a pain. There were levers and switches you had to depress in the right sequence to get it to ignite and if it didn't go, you had to start over. This one is super simple. A flow nob and an igniter. And it lights every time at any gas flow setting. The old one would blow out if you didn't have the flow just right. I'm very pleased with the functionality of this torch.
