Its been 3 years now since I bought these wheels. These wheels were designed for recumbents & can take wider tire sizes but are they worth the extra money ? Well first, yes I have a recumbent. With my other wheels I was getting warping due to hitting objects at higher speeds which caused me to take the wheels in to have trued. Now the Thracian wheels have held up so far to the high speed bumping into curbs / rocks / etc ... I'm not saying these are indestructible wheels I still take reasonable care & slow down for big curbs. They are relatively light weight for the strength provided plus they have a great look to them (Black). The bearings are sealed so there is little maintenance. I think the only downside so far is that riding the trails they get dirty faster than the chrome wheels as the dust shows up quickly. But I am very happy with the wheels performance / durability / quality. If cost is the main concern I justified this by what I was paying for having the previous wheels trued every year. So far these wheels have remained balanced & true after 3 years of riding about 2400 miles thru trails / city streets.I've noticed that this old review of the Velocity Thracian Wheel set is being used for the 700 Velocity Deep V - Black wheel set. Not the same wheel set just looking at the new pictures of this 700 ... the hub looks different so I'm not sure if my review is valid for this one ! Noticed Velocity stopped making the Thracian Wheel Set.
