The first one in a wheel set had plier mangled locknuts and a huge over-drilled valve hole. This second one was normal. Both were reasonably true and had smooth sealed bearings. So basically you roll the dice and maybe you’ll get a good one.

These were packed well and arrived un-damaged. They were true within about 3mm side-to-side and 1mm up/down, and easily brought to 1mm tolerance, mostly by small, 1/8 turn loosening of high spots. The Origin 8 hubs have sealed bearings and seem very nice. Thirty-six stainless steel, straight-gauge spokes are great for durability, as are the Weinmann LP-18 rims. I'm running a 7-speed freewheel and 28mm tires.

Good solid wheel that takes many miles of hard riding. Good replacement wheel for a quick switch out when wheel problems inevitably occur.

Very smooth wheel, I run it with a 7 speed freewheel and it fit perfectly, The wheel was perfectly true out of the box!

This is my second time getting this wheel setup. LP18 rim is double walled and machined sidewall. Great features for a replacement wheel. It arrived straight and tru. The bearings spin as smooth as butter. The spacing was setup perfectly for my 80's trek road bike with the old 126mm spacing. The hub is different from the last time. This time its an orgin8 hub. They usually are pretty mid-level but durable. Keep in mind you will need to buy some rim tape before mounting a tire and tube. You can also buy this as a set with the front wheel around 100 bucks, but as a replacement wheel, the price around 60 is actually pretty fair considering what you can get at a LBS without having to custom build your own wheel.

I've had the wheel for a few months now and it's still nearly true. I've hit a few depressions in the road aside from the usual asphalt patches and cracks despite my best efforts but nothing catastrophic. It's holding up better than my previous wheel. Have it trued at your local bike shop when the wheel arrives (like I did) if you're not very good at it. Having 36 spokes instead of just 32 seems to give it more support.Update:It's now 3/31/17 and I've used it for about 2 years of riding. I took a year off from cycling. I've only had it trued two or three times that whole time and it's still almost true, despite hitting holes and cracks. The 36 spokes compared to 32 spokes make a difference I think.

This was the cheapest sealed hub rear wheel replacement I could find and I got exactly what I payed for.Pro: Reasonably light and machined sidewall.Cons: After about two weeks of commuting I found several spokes so loose they could be finger tightened and the wheel was out of true. It wasn't terribly difficult to tighten these down and get the wheel back into reasonably true state. Since that I have had to tighten down about 10 spokes.Hopefully this was just because the wheel wasn't pre-stressed and I won't have to deal with this for much longerUpdate: I am now finding about 5 loose spokes every 15 miles. Don't buy this wheel.
