ITEM REVIEWED : Gofunfun White Melamine Dinner Plates,12pcs Dishes Set,10inch____________________________________________________________________________________________These are nice 10" plates for backyard, picnic or camping use because they won't break if you drop them. This is because they are made of Melamine. Melamine is a type of plastic. As listed on the back of these plates, they are dishwasher and freezer safe but they are *NOT* microwave safe. This is stamped on the back of each plate.Melamine is a type of plastic. Melamine is considered safe for serving and eating food, but food shouldn’t be microwaved in or on these dishes. Not only do Melamine plates bend/distort (minor melting?) in the microwave some of the Melamine from the plates could also get into the food this way. They also don't do well in very extreme heat like near the stove top or in the oven. So best to not use these plates in the microwave or oven. Melamine plates do not break easily (some say they are unbreakable) so they are great for pool parties or camping. Although not easily, they can be (slightly) scratched when aggressively used with a sharp knife etc.(-1) I reduced my rating by one star because the microwave restriction is not listed in the seller's product description.(-1) I reduced my rating by another star because I feel that an extreme heat (don't use in oven) restriction should also be listed in the product description AND is completely missing in any documentation that comes with the plates. So, minus 2 STARS in total because I like to know what I'm buying... when I'm buying it.... not after purchase.The price is actually right in the ballpark if you do some research for identical and/or similar plates.

Since they are lightweight and non-breakable, they are perfect for use in any room -- whether it be pizza in front of the TV for hockey, snacks in the game room, treats on the patio, or nibbles in the home office. Further, the design is also so simple and elegant that these plates do not look out of place on the kitchen table for dinner either.With 12 plates to a package, if you like to entertain but do not have room in your kitchen to keep them, these plates can be boxed up and stored until you need them. Since they are reusable (numerous times for many years), they are easy on the environment. Also, since they are dishwasher safe, they are easy on your back and hands. One plate can easily fit enough food for a full dinner so bring on the summer BBQs!Although the plates have been used numerous times, been exposed to steak knives and highly pigmented foods like turmeric, tomato sauce, etc., they have maintained their finish and show no signs of staining. I will also mention that our household is comprised of adults who exercise caution when using stainless steel utensils (like steak knives) on the plates and ensure the plates are rinsed post-use.If I had one wish for a feature to add to these plates, it would be for a slight lip around the edges to help keep the food more securely on the plate.Recommended.In the event that experiences change or evolve, updates may be made to this review to address such developments.

These White Melamine Dinner Plates,12pcs Dishes Set,10inch Lightweight Round Plates,Scratch Resistant Unbreakable Serving Dishes,White are a great deal for good-sized, lightweight, unbreakable plates. They would be good for camping, road trips, and I brought a couple to work to keep in my desk drawer for toast and sandwiches.

I like these full sized plain white dinner plates. Being plain white, they go with any other crockery designs, especially if the design is also plain white.PROS (+):+ Full sized+ Light weight. Good for picnics and camping+ Slow heat transfer compared to ceramic+ Dishwasher safe. Yea!+ Unbreakable,… relatively. I know some two-year olds who could test this, but they’d have to work at it.CONS (-):- Can’t use in an oven. Well, you can, but they’ll likely melt- Can’t use in a microwave. So no reheating leftovers on these.- While “scratch resistant” they are not “scratch proof”. Regular dinner knives should be ok, but using these plates to cut stuff with a sharp paring knife will likely scratch.SUMMARY:Ok plates. Probably best for things like picnics where their durability and ability to keep food warmer than china or metal would help
