Product is very stiff and not pliable at all so it was not suitable for my intended use as a replacement hose for a backcountry water filter.

I bought this 3/8" ID, 1/2" OD, 1/16" wall silicone tubing to replace the primary solution-feed tubes in an old Hoover SteamVac Deluxe. (I believe I have the original model. At any rate, Hoover no longer stocks replacement tubing for it.) One of the original tubes popped off its connector nozzle, possibly because I use very hot water, probably because it became permanently stretched out at the tip, with age, and almost certainly because it was cut to the *absolute bare minimum length* at the factory. (When I opened up the SteamVac and saw how short the tube had been cut, I was *amazed* it hadn't popped off within the first few uses.) My main motives for choosing this type of tubing for a replacement were high temperature rating, flexibility, and resilience.I haven't had a chance to test the repair yet, but I'm not anticipating any problems. In fact, I expect it to perform better than before. The silicone rubber is stickier than than the original tubing, so it will probably stay seated on the connector nozzles better. (The cleaner solution is gravity-fed from a one-gallon tank and only applied to the carpet a couple/few seconds at a time, so I'm not too worried about ballooning at the nozzle, leading to the tube popping off. In the unlikely event that *does* happen, I should be able to fix the problem with a mix of hose clamps and cable ties. And if *that* doesn't work, I might eyeball the tubing path to see if tubing with a thicker wall and bigger OD would fit.) I'm also expecting (hoping?) that the silicone won't develop durable kinks/constrictions from the SteamVac being stored for long periods of time in the upright locked position, as one of the original tubes did.Obviously, I won't know for sure how well it works until I test it, but I'm optimistic. If I turn out to be wrong, I'll try to remember to add a note to this review.UPDATE: My Hoover SteamVac Deluxe works *great* with this replacement tubing. It now feeds solution out a bit more slowly than it did with the original vinyl tubing, but that's actually a good thing, since I don't have to move the SteamVac as fast as I used to to avoid saturating the carpet. If the repair doesn't hold for any reason, I'll try to remember to update this review again...

I bought this tube for a homemade aquaponic system because it is said to be made from silicone. Apparently silicone is better than flexible vinyl or PVC since it will not let plasticizer leach into the water. However I was very surprised by the strong odor. It even have me a headache. Clearly not good quality.I would not use for beverage as suggested by the retailer or use it on my aquarium.

Perfect replacement for Pur/Katadyn Hiker water filter hoses, exact same dimensions including wall thickness. Very slightly more rigid than the original, works well, doesn't collapse under suction and stores nicely. Also used this to create a gravity filter with about six feed of head using a Sawyer Squeeze with Sawyer SP110 inline hydration pack adapters. Used a Source WXP 3L bladder I had laying around for dirty water (very easy to fill as top opens) and a Katadyn Carbon Cartridge which fits perfectly into Nalgene bottles and canteens. Replaced the Source bladder's hose with this, tight fit over the bladder plugin adapter but it works. Fit on the SP110 adapters and Katadyn carbon filter are perfect. Similar in price to the Katadyn Hiker intake filter and hose kit, a critter ate a hole in that hose for some reason. After all of this there is still extra hose left over for future repairs.

Like others have said, these tubes do take up the surrounding dirt. They are not exactly sticky, but the finish on the exterior is like a matte, so they do get dirty but can be cleaned. I am really happy with this product and the company, as well as the add, and I'll tell you about my specific application if it helps someone.I made a goat milking machine using vinyl tubing, syringes and a home medical suction pump. the problem with the vinyl tubing, apart from being non food grade, was that it was too slick and not flexible enough to grip the catheter-tipped syringes, and eventually it would slide off as the tubing became stretched out. This add was so great because it had every type of tubing they make. But my recommendation is to be sure and double check your internal diameter measurement. I miss-measured mine and the type that arrived had a tubing wall that was too thin. This caused the vacuum to collapse the tubing and dramatically reduced the efficiency of the suction motor.Luckily, this stuff is so cheap it was no big deal to go on prime again and get another 10 feet!Hope this helps another milker out there!

In order to get an even temperature in a sous vide bath, it needs to be stirred. There are two stirring schemes in common use - one is to use a small liquid pump that goes into an aquarium or fountain. Those pumps have a problem in that they won't stand up to temperatures higher than 150F or 160F. They seem to work OK at 145 and they work great at 131. But at some temperature short of 180F, they fail because parts soften. Bad pump, no biscuit! I wanted something I could stir simmering water with - I was not going to stir something with body, beans or polenta or such. Mechanical stirrers on Amazon got horrible ratings with the exception of those built into a pot. But while you can't stir beans with a bubbler, you can stir water with a bubbler - it is the being stirred that keeps the fish alive - more water is exposed to the surface. This tubing has the same inside diameter as standard aquarium tubing, so it fits an aquarium pump's air fitting perfectly. My feeling is that if an aquarium pump won't kill fish, the air produced is probably safe for food. The food is protected from the bath with a plastic barrier, but it seems to diffuse a bit, you can smell the spices from inside the bag in the water bath, and what diffuses out will diffuse in. Thus I didn't want to use standard aquarium tubing in the water. Even silicone aquarium tubing. I probably could have boiled standard silicone tubing, changing the water at least five times, or until no dye leached into the boiling water after five changes. But this stuff, well, I could just use it.I folded the end over, stuffed it into a 1/2" stainless nut that had been through a dishwasher, which nut held the end folded over and sealed, and then I used the nuts and a couple stainless washers that had similar treatment as weights. I clipped little crescent moon shaped holes in the tubing with diagonal cutters, one hole every half inch over four inches - to get bubbles to come out in small streams, so that they would stir more water. Worked perfectly.I selected this tubing, even though it was more expensive than other tubing, because it was food safe and rated for temperatures well higher than boiling. Nothing else came close - but I would have bought 1 meter if I could have. Or a half meter would have been enough. It is not cheap, but I didn't allow price to affect my rating, I knew what it cost when I bought it.
