After looking for some time I settled on this particular sundial because I really liked the overall look and vertical design. Unfortunately, the treading for one of the connections was not done properly and the screw snapped in two as I was trying to tighten it. Have to now wonder how well this would have held up in the elements had I been able to assemble it. I have since found an antique sundial for less money that will definitely withstand the test of time.

This Sundial is NOT worth $80.00,. The bolt holes do not align correctly one aligns fine, the second is offset slightly and makes trying to put the bolt in without stripping it a nightmare, the bolts are black, and just look really tacky with the Copper Verdi finish on the Aluminum Sundial. Frankly it is the sort of thing you would expect to find at a Flea Market. I DO NOT recommend this product.

I ordered this item twice - both times (see photo above), the holes were not drilled so that they would align for assembly. I contacted the seller regarding the first order - they sent me a free return label (I was advised that they did not process exchanges but I could just place another order). I am still awaiting my refund (they received the returned item two weeks ago - will update when return is processed). Will improve the star rating when refund is processed.The second order was misaligned to a lesser degree and I was able to very, very carefully enlarge the UNTHREADED hole using a small round file from an inexpensive "10 piece diamond grit needle file set" purchased at a local tool discount chain store . The fix took less than 5 minutes.The holes appear to be drilled by hand after the item is cast - there are marks in the mold to show where the holes should be drilled and it appears that those who drill are trying to eyeball it the best they can. Clearly there must be a better way - I hope for the seller's sake the manufacturing process is improved because until it is, this problem will persist.It would have been really nice if the piece had come with a matching screw to mount it with and some sort of base.For the mount, I used an old aluminum pan turned upside down (see photo). Buried the pan partway and placed the handle so that it would provide leverage to keep the sundial from tipping over. Made sure to use an aluminum screw and nut (to keep metals from reacting) and primed the aluminum screw with self etching primer (so paint would bond) and painted screw to match with outdoor acrylics.

I mounted the sundial to a tree stump that is approximately 4' high. I laid copper sheeting on the stump then mounted the sundial. Looks good and works! What more could you ask for...

I had an old embedded 4x4 post in a garden area left over from the previous house owners. Needed something to place on top for an accent piece. Shipping was relatively quick. The size was as advertised. Quality was decent - the holes were threaded properly, the screws didn't break or strip, pretty solid - not hollow anywhere, appears to be painted aluminum. Directions were decent.Minor complaint that the hole in the base is slightly off-center - so don't pre-drill a hole in the center of your location (like I did). Copper post cap in photo is not included - bought that separately.
