Whiteside Machine Company has been in the router bit business for over 30 years providing customer with quality products while at the same time striving to achieve complete customer satisfaction. Several woodworking magazines have tested Whiteside versus the competition and selected Whiteside as the winner for best router bits available in the market. Whiteside Machine Company was founded in 1970 as a general purpose machine shop in the basement of Bill & Bobbie Whiteside's home. Located in Western North Carolina near the furniture manufacturing town of Hickory, the company was often involved in making repairs or special parts for the furniture and woodworking field. A strong commitment to customer problem-solving, a can-do attitude, and innovative ideas, along with a growing core of dedicated employees, helped the business evolve into a manufacturer of woodworking equipment and tooling. Primarily through repeat business and referrals, the tooling business continued to grow to meet a demand for quality production router bits as well as custom application tooling. Today, Whiteside Machine occupies a 40,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility and produces a complete line of solid carbide and carbide tipped router bits. Whiteside's quality, innovation, and customer commitment is still present in our superb product line, in the design of custom tooling to fill special customer requirements, and in the development of special machinery and tooling for our own manufacturing use. As always, Whiteside Machine is continuously striving to improve our product through new technology, improved production techniques, and ongoing research and development efforts; along with rigid quality control, vital customer feedback and extensive field testing. I almost exclusively use Whiteside bits for my CNCs, but this one just doesn't stand up.With this thin bit, i slow my feed rate drastically, and I'm cutting through Sintra (literally foamy PVC), and I still break these. Maybe I got a bad batch that was poorly treated?Note that I've been CNC'ing stuff since before they were 'hobby grade' (1994), so I've been around the best and worst.

I needed to cut 1/8 in grooves in 1/2 inch pine boards. Although pine is a soft wood, I still took it very slow when cutting the grooves. This bit only lasted through 4 ft of cutting. I was very disappointed to spend this much for didn’t last.

I needed a thin 1/16" bit for inlay work. Whiteside's solid carbide bit worked out fine. It was the first time I used such a small diameter bit.

Frustrated with brittle breakage problems with other 1/16" carbide router bits, I ran across this solid carbide bit by White Side and gave it a try. I would rate its durability as excellent when compared to other carbide bits that I have tried. I even cut inlays in hard, burled walnut without breakage. I am sure this high hardness bit will fracture eventually, since these small router bits need to be used carefully, but so far so good.

I haven't had any issues with breaking like some if the other reviews mention. Like any other bits, speeds and feeds are king.

It was hard to find a 1/16" bit that would cut a full 1/4" deep, so that's a plus. While the tool was sharp it cut very cleanly. After about 45 minutes of cutting in 1/4" cherry the bit became very dull. With little warning it was burning it's way through the wood rather than cutting. I understand that it is very small (little ability to dissipate heat) and only has a single cutting edge but for the price I need it to last a bit longer.

needed a small bit for some detail work. first time i have used a bit this small. when i saw it, thought it would break the first time it touched wood, but it cuts great. i don't actually have high hopes for the longevity of a bit this size, but so far, so good! (the first one actually arrived broken, but amazon sent me a replacement immediately!)

I purchase several of these at a time for routing Ho Scale Slot Car tracks made of Medium Density Fiber board (MDF). I usually get about 600 feet of routing distance from each bit, They work well, and last longer than other brands. As with any routing bit, the RPM and rate of travel speed, and material be routed have a huge impact on how long a bit will last ! For my application they are work exceptionally well. I'm satisfied with the quality and recommend them. A little high on price, but you get what you pay for !
