Modern homes are filled with sensitive electrical devices and appliances. Electrical surges can cost thousands in damage to these devices if not protected correctly.
Bad Wolf surge protectors prevent high energy transient voltage spikes similar to those produced by Lightning, EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse), and solar flares from damaging electrical and electronic equipment. Our products also protect electrical equipment from all the standard causes of internal and external surges like compressor start, Grid line variations and more.
Due to the small size of the Home Surge Defender, it may be mounted inside of the service panel for easy installation. Optionally it can be mounted external to allow for easy status verification. It is recommended that the SPD be mounted using a dedicated double pole circuit breaker closest to the main disconnect or power entry connections. It is also recommended that the circuit breaker being used is 20A current rating or higher.

(Electrician) picked this product and said it would offer me whole house protection. He installed it in the outside panel and the installation went smoothly. My first Electrician recommended a $600 product that offered less protection.

I liked the protection this gives the homeowner! BadWolf also offers one that offers even more protection if you want it. The compact size of this unit is what I needed. If your configuration of panelbox and surge protector requires the wires coming out of it to be opposite configuration for wall mounting, you can contact BadWolf for a decal that applies over the other & has reversed print, and at no charge. (Seems to me that they could include that in box). My unit was installed by a electrical contractor, but was purchased here on Amazon by me. I am happy with my purchase....... time will tell.

I installed it within 20 minutes. I'm not an electrician. Took my time because it was a panel. So easy. You just need a double pull 20 amp box to insert. Home depot. Turn off the main breaker and follow directions.We will see if it works when we need it. I trust Veterans and knowledge to build!

After replacing 2 run capacitors on the fridge, and one on the HVAC unit, the defining moment for us was having to replace a $2200 control panel on our BOSCH HVAC unit after multiple power off/power on issues. With the last incident when they they recharged an electrical line after a tree fell on it about a mile from our house the electrical surge fried the control board and tripped 5 circuit breakers on the panel. We did ALOT of research, and finally decided on the Bad Wolf whole house surge protector. Very impressed with the product, ease of installation and customer support. In the picture 20 amp double pole is marked with blue painter tape. We did shut off the power to the house, and double checked to make sure nothing was powered. It’s so easy. It has 4 wires, white goes to neutral. Green to ground and the other two to the circuit breaker. Took 10 minutes from start to finish. My husband wanted to use a 40 amp double pole, and we contacted customer service (Dan) who promptly responded and advised that the recommended 20 amp was preferable. So it is installed with the 20 amp, and will mount to the wall after it is painted. I love the fact this is veteran owned, and that a quality operation is important to them (and me). We now have peace of mind. Totally recommend!
