I've been using these to connect the mast raising control shrouds on my trimaran; the 40' mast base hinged on my cabin top. Normally, there isn't much tension on the shrouds just enough to keep them taught and the mast straight vertical on the way up. This past week I mistakenly so overtightened the shroud... the tension was easily over 1,000 lbs. The inner release got crushed and I now have to replace... but the hook never released. Very strong.
