About this item

  • Ancient Roman widow's mite coins of bible parable of the poor widow and the unselfish gift of her last two mites coins (Mark 12:41-44).
  • Jesus understands and realizes that the widow's gift to the Temple treasury was all she had and that was why she gave the most
  • The front shows an anchor and the back shows the six points of a star.
  • Mite coin measures 3/4 inches and comes in bronze color

Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.” (Mark 12:41-44) The mite coin measures 3/4 inch and comes in bronze color metal reproduction. The front shows an anchor and the back shows the six points of a star. Give 2 to each Christian. Jesus makes the point that the widow’s gift to the Temple treasury was very costly to her, because it represented everything she had.

This small coin is mentioned in the Bible. If you have ever wandered what a widow’s mite is then order a couple of these. I ordered quite a few of them and give them out to get a conversation started. A really good learning tool for young people.

They are a nice size, actually. Of course a widow's mite is quite small. But the metal feels like good quality and they look very cool.

Thin and light weightI have one that was given to me. I ordered these for my daughter to give to her Youth Group. For the price it is a good value. They are not all the same. They have been cut off center, some with thick edge while others are very thin They are a thin metal and very light. The stamping is very detailed. I would recommend for 8 years and older. And great for a teaching tool.

I bought these for a friend of mine who gives tours at the Warwick museum. He passes them out to visitors. They are a nice treat and he really enjoyed giving them out.
