I like to keep track of the humidity in my 3D printer filament storage box. It's where I keep all my opened spools of filament. I regulate the humidity with silica gel beads and replenish them when I notice they've been saturated. Before I had a hygrometer placed to the side of the clear box so I can peak in and check. After that I got a bluetooth hygrometer, but this required me to be within bluetooth range and every time I open the app to check, it would have to download all the data before displaying it. However with this, I now have an alarm setup to trigger when the humidity rises above a certain threshold which is nice. I also like seeing the historical data. I can tell when I opened the box and such and how it affects the humidity in the box. I can check on its status from anywhere since this is wifi and I pretty much threw it in there and havent physically looked at it since.It does require its own app that you need to create an account for. I have so many apps from different makers of smart devices that it's pretty annoying. I can see why people would want to stick with one brand just for the simplicity of having everything in one place. I did connect it to Alexa but in the app it only shows the temperature and not the humidity (which is what I primarily care about). That being said, I couldnt get Alexa to tell me the temperature or humidity of the sensor. Perhaps I'm not using the correct phrases. However I can include it in Alexa routines or triggers, but ONLY as a temperature sensor (boooo). Either way, I'm okay with their app alerting me of the humidity but it would be nicer if I could just have alexa do that and delete the app off my phone.

The device comes with 3 AAA batteries, ready to use as soon as you pull the plastic tab. It starts out showing temperature in C, humidity in % and time in 24-hour format starting at 00:00 when you first turn it on. The button on the top will turn the backlight on or, if double-pressed, changes the time between 12-hour and 24-hour. If you're good with these settings, you can use it right out of the box.To change the settings, or to access additional features, you will need to download the app. In the app, you can change the temperature to show either F or C. You can also remotely see the temperature and humidity since you will need to connect the device to your wifi. The time automatically syncs with your time as well. Once the settings are changed in the app, you need to reset the device.The device shows to have a reset button. It appears to be a slot in the casing, but I was not able to get this to work. Instead, it was easier just to remove a battery and put it back in.
