I like the axe, especially with the built in splitting wedge.. it's seems to be pretty solid. People say it's not that really sharp. We'll it's not.. and thats ok.. just gave it a quick sharpen.. and you'll be happy..

This axe easily splits log pieces. The handle feels a bit light but seems sturdy. Definitely worth the money.

the materials and the design of this splitting axe are good. the handle appears to be well attached and should last for a long long time. the design of the head is as close to an old favourite of mine as i could get. it's in the execution of the design that is lacking. as delivered to me the blade was not sharp. ok, not a problem, most of us are going to put our own edge on anyway. the problem was that the edge of the blade was curved off-axis (for want of a better description). if you were to lay the business end on a flat surface you would find the arc away from that surface. not good for splitting but fixable with any kind of grinder. i hope i didn't ruin any temper, but i suspect that a proper temper was not something being offered. would i buy this again? at this price: yes. oh, i gave this 5 stars for light weight: a splitting axe is not supposed to be light weight. I'd say the weight was just about perfect.

I bought the 36” splitting maul. Have only had the opportunity to swing it a few times. Came sharp out of the box but might touch the edge up a bit with my stone. The fiberglass handle does have some noticeable give to it when you hit a log but not serious. If your looking something to use once in awhile do a handful of firewood I’d recommend this axe all day long. If you’re using it almost daily and hand splitting cords of wood do yourself a favour and get something with a wood handle. Also put some sort of oil (I use just regular wd-40) on the cheeks so it doesn’t get stuck everytime you sink it into a log.

Used 3 times and the handle has a hailine fracture in it. The company does not give but a 30 day return policy, so ry it out soon after you buy or you will be left with a dud. Not safe to use anymore with a fracture in the handle.

I really like it , somehow lost my original splitting maul but this one is good quality for the money , I would definitely buy it again but I think it's going to last a long time

The first one I received was rusted and used (hence the 4 stars). The second was replaced immediately and it's good quality, comfortable to use and the right weight.
