Exceptional value. THESE ARE TALL: YOU'LL PROBABLY NEED TO DEEPEN YOUR PICKUP ROUTES!If you truly know what old P90s sound like, these will disappoint you if you're expecting "P90 minus the hum". These have their own character, and I like that character. Lots of wiring options with the 4 wire, but by default, easy to wire up since the coil tap wires (red and white) come pre-connected.These pickups cannot be beat for the price.

Bought to replace the pickups on a Chinese Crafter Les Paul Junior which has a bolt-on neck to give the appearance of a set neck.I liked the way the pickups have different spacing for the pole pieces. In the end, I was only able to use the bridge pickup, and this was due to the height. Being stacked, they are taller than the cheapo PAF originals. This meant a bit of 'joinery' involving removal of 5mm of wood beneath each. This was no problem with the bridge pickup, but the neck one would have required the loss of too much material, making the neck joint (bolted) less sturdy. It is now a single-coil guitar (just like the original Gibson, of course) with a new scratchplate covering the hole near the neck. The wiring diagram was uninformative, but at least the pickup came with the red and white wired soldered together to give the humbucker sound. However, in view of the loss of the other pickup, I wanted a coil tap/switch arrangement to give a slightly broader tonal range. The diagram was of little use on this, offering no options other than saying the yellow and red were for one coil and the black and the white were for the other.I assumed that I needed a switch between the red and the white, with 'on' being a complete humbucker circuit, and 'off' shutting off one of the coils. Not so. In 'on' I had the humbucker, but 'off' shut the entire pickup down.Various visits to the internet established that a simple version was to solder red and white to one lug of the switch and an earth to the other. In 'on', the humbucker circuit was in play, but 'off' earthed the white wire, ensuring it had two earths. This meant that the only coil with a circuit (hot and earth) was the yellow and red one.The difference in sound between the two versions is subtle but worth it. Plus, the hum when in single coil mode is minimal.Overall the sound is a vast improvement on the original.

These have a great tone! I did try a couple of different capacitors and went with .047 as they gave me the tone I was after. Give these a try! You won’t be sorry!!

Great sounding stacked '90s. The bridge is very articulate and HOT but still very P90. The neck is nearly perfect. However, please keep in mind these are VERY tall and can easily take up your entire pickup route. I recommend not reusing the foam on your old P90 pickups (if replacing) as you *will* need that clearance. Even with that, the neck pickup was a little high for my liking and I ended up just using the bridge. However, if you have the depth, try these! You won't be disappointed.

These pickups actually sound pretty great. If you are getting them for the sound, you will have made a decent choice. The installation materials and wiring diagrams are not useful, however. If you are new to installing pickups, or haven't done it much, like me, you will have trouble figuring out the wiring.- The mounting screws provided are WAY too short to be useful. They barely poke out the bottom. You will almost certainly need longer screws. Why do they provide screws for their own product that don't fit? Did they even try to mount these things in a guitar?- The springs, also, are not gonna fit. At all.- The wiring diagram describes, helpfully, which is hot and which is ground. It doesn't describe wtf the other wires are for. Since this is a "stacked" P90, it is similar to a humbucker (i.e. it has two coils), and the extra wires (red and white) simply connect the two coils.- There are no wiring diagrams that exist in the world that quite match the number, color, or placement of wires in these pickups. But I just ignored the red/white wires and focused on the yellow (hot) and black (ground) wires. Once I did that, standard P90 wiring diagrams started making sense.- The ground wire is soldered to the back in a kinda dumb way that makes the pickup **even taller** and I re-soldered and remounted the ground wire to the back of the pickup to make it flatter. Removed the excess solder, added a little jumper, and straightened out the wire bundle. For $35 or so, these are an incredible value.

I have used many Wilkinson pickups on my guitars and basses ( 6 out of 9! ). I replaced two P90’s of an excellent brand and gorgeous sound in a guitar which was a custom built surprise birthday present only because of the single coil noise which was almost unusable through some of my pedals. I am very happy with the sound of these pickups. I am also very happy with the other Wilkinson pickups l have installed. For the price they are ridiculously good but l wouldn’t use them if l didn’t like how they sound.

Plenty of output and clarity very happy with both neck and bridge position. Stacked coils with so many wiring options. A very good value. Definitely better than my original stock pickups.

They sound descent but no traditional p90 tones. The push pull operation seems to be backwards as well. They don’t blend well with standard p90s. Been playing 30 years so I may have a use for em later.

I was really excited to replace my standard P90s with these Humberukers. However, these are stacked coils. It would not fit in the Neck position without some major surgery to the guitar. Other than the depth, they fit the hole well. The wire was sturdy and these had some weight to them. The instructions are wrong, the wire bundles are gray and black. the black was the bridge the gray was the neck. I didn't actually hear them, but i they looked to be quality made, they felt sturdy and the wire was thicker than other cheaper pickups i have seen. Wilkinson is a reputable brand. For the price, they are worth the try. remember these are stacked coils, the pickup cavities need to be extra deep for these. The bridge position would not have been a problem. So know i am looking for some side by side coiled humbuckers. The old P90s had foam which acts like a spring.
