  • Q : Can I install a 2015 trackpad in a 2014 model?
  • A : Nope, not possible. The trackpad and cable are completely different and not compatible, they also deal with different signals and voltages to and from the trackpad.
  • Q : Why doesn't part of my trackpad work? The trackpad works intermittently or only in some areas, or will track but won’t click ?
  • A : Symptom of a swelling battery will be,it requires replacing the battery and will be no issues.

Now, before you read any further, I just want to say that it's only been an hour since I fired up my A1502 13" Early 2015 MacBook Pro. With that said, it's working amazingly well, upon inspection, the trackpad looks identical to the OEM one that broke on my MBP. I compared the two side-by-side and I'm guessing the manufacturer of this trackpad was or is an Apple supplier or something and they may be sitting on some leftover trackpads that were never used for production since, you know, this notebook is seven+ years old now. Again just a guess, they're just so identical I doubt this is some 3rd party knockoff. The look and feel are uncanny. I'm very happy with this purchase, installation was a breeze for me, at least. I had replaced the bloated battery, previously, so the adhesive wasn't fully bonded to the chassis so I had no problems removing it during the fix process. I'd like to thank a reviewer on here who was in the same exact boat after replacing his bloated battery and having also replaced the keyboard/trackpad ribbon cable to no avail. The user opted for replacing the trackpad as well as a sort of hail-mary, and to his relief, the issue was resolved. So I decided to do the same and I'm equally relieved. Worth every penny. If your keyboard and trackpad aren't functioning, get this, for the price, you might as well try. The only other thing that could possibly be wrong is the trackpad/keyboard USB controller chip that's soldered to the main motherboard, I'm glad that wasn't the problem.

Replace my old battery as it was swollen and would not hold a charge. After putting all pieces back together, the Ninja battery worked fine, but the keyboard and track pad were inoperative. Disappointing. Reading the web, decided to replace the trackpad ribbon cable which runs over the battery (bad design). Then replaced the track pad ribbon cable, but no joy. The keyboard and track pad were still inoperative. Very disappointing. Then read web again and found that trackpad might need to be replaced. Ordered that and installed. Praise the Lord it worked! So very happy that after three hardware updates, my MacBook 13 inch (early 2015) works great and battery is now brand new and works wonderful. Hope this helps someone else down the road.

Installing the trackpad require you to rip out the existing battery. Very good chance that by the end of it your battery won't be in good shape from you ripping it out. Might as well spend the extra 35 bucks and add a new battery in place.
