These Winco PLW-7k bus boxes and matching PLW-CK lids (sold separately) are heavy duty, that's for sure. They should last a long time and stand up to some abuse. The lids enable the boxes to be stacked several high. The lids fit well. They are not air tight, but I do believe they will keep out light and dust, which is all I really needed. I plan to use them as reservoirs for hydroponic growing, with plants sitting on top of the lids, and I believe they will work well for that purpose. Though there is no UV protection indicated, they should have some UV resistance from what I assume is carbon black as a colorant. These boxes are made in China and carry a Proposition 65 warning - for what, I don't know. Being made of polypropylene, they shouldn't contain BPA. Phthalates maybe? Or maybe the manufacturer just threw those stickers on as a legal precaution. Either way, I'm not thrilled about the Prop 65 warning. Next time I will look for boxes made in the USA. (E.g., the Winco PL-7k and PL-57k lids are supposed to be made in the USA) These boxes and lids had a strong chemical smell when I received them, which has somewhat subsided after airing them out in the sun for a couple of weeks.
