Took these out day after we got them and caught about 30 blue crabs pretty fun I think they're easier than a chicken leg on a string

My wife and I have been crabbing off the local piers for a few years now and have had varying degrees of luck using both snares and hoop nets. This design is sort of a cross between the two.Because these are relatively small, they can be cast with a heavy rod & reel, like a snare, allowing one to get away from the pier, But, when retrieved, they close around the crab, rather than just snaring a leg. For casting, I think we'll try some sort of small float above the trap to help ensure that it lands right-side-up. A line is also provided for dropping the traps straight down.All-in-all, I give the inventor credit and, like all aspects of fishing and tackle, it'll be mostly a matter of luck. If, when when the season allows, we have more to add, we'll do an update- hopefully with pictures of success.I think it's a clever design and the build quality seems good.

The springs on the net are too weak, and they will not open up in the water any longer. I only used it one day, and it’s no longer usable. Not happy at all.
