After trying Firstleaf’s basic aerator, I wanted to try the slightly more expensive model and I’m so glad I did. This aerator takes everything up a notch: better materials, a built-in sediment filter, and a flawless no-drip pour that makes serving wine feel effortless and refined. The improvement in flavor and aroma is immediate and noticeable. It opens up both reds and whites beautifully, and the added filtration gives peace of mind for older bottles from my collection with sediment. It’s also surprisingly easy to clean, which I appreciate after a night of tippling. Whether you're a casual wine drinker or someone who enjoys a more curated tasting experience, this upgrade is worth every penny. It looks great on the table, performs even better, and would make an excellent gift for any wine lover.

I have not personally owned an aerator before, so take my comments on flavor with a grain of salt. I do generally have a decent pallet for wine, but either my tastes are changing or I've had a run of bad luck recently buying reds that just aren't doing it for me out of the bottle. I tried this aerator on two wines - one that had been open previously and was drinking too sweet, and one newly opened bottle for a better comparison. On the too sweet wine, it did cut down the syrupy feeling and helped to open up the flavor profile a bit (though the wine then tasted a bit watery, which is probably more about the wine). On the other bottle, upon first opening it drank sharp and tanniny, with a nice licorice nose. With aeration it definitely mellowed the sharpness and brought the flavor profile more to mid-palette, but brought more tannins and a leather/smoke to the nose. After 10 mins of the bottle sitting uncorked, out of bottle was a bit syrupy with a sharp finish and smooth tannins. Aerated after this 10 min rest evened out the sharpness on the finish but spread it to the rest of the mouthful, but did make the flavor less syrupy. The only reason for 3 stars is that despite very nice packaging (this is not a made in china, wrapped in a ziploc situation), the aerator itself is plastic and feels a little bit flimsy. I feel like I have to be very gentle with it in my hand when I'm pushing it into the bottle to ensure a tight fit with no drips. The portion over where the air intake is sort of rattles a bit. It does clean up fine by hand, even if I leave it for a night with red residue, which is nice. At $15, and/or a possible discount, not a bad started aerator to decide if it's something you want to have in your collection.

This aerator is one of the better ones I've gotten from Amazon in the past few years. It mixes the wine and air extremely well. There are a lot of bubbles in the glass to prove this after it's poured. It's mostly one piece, so there's no long straw that attaches at the bottom like some models. However, this model does have a clip on piece around the collar. Don't lose it, or the whole thing is worthless. It's still not truly one piece like my never-fail Viturri but it's also very compact and works great. For the price you can go wrong.

Interestingly enough, I’ve been a First Leaf member for about two years now, but never knew they sold accessories to complement wine sipping and tasting. This is a great aerator. I have the one with the base (separate manufacturer, not First Leaf), but think I’m too lazy as I don’t want to hold the aerator and pour my wine into it, I just want to pop the aerator onto the bottle, and let her rip! This aerator allows me to do just that! The ease of use is what I’ve been looking for. This does what I need and more. No more hassle.

Does what you'd expect it to do, however it requires an aggressive pour to function correctly. It fits securely in everything from a wine bottle to a beer bottle (I homebrew and as the only drinker in the house I mostly bottle into old beer bottles so I don't have to open a "full bottle of wine").The disadvantage of this type of aerator is that it will also stir and aerate the contents of the bottle as well as what you pour. This is fine if you are dispensing a grocery store wine that won't have any sediment and that you plan to finish in an evening or two but I would not recommend this product for finer wines (which may have sediment) or if you like to draw a glass every couple of nights for a week or more out of a single bottle (where aerating the bottle contents will shorten the shelf life). The product claims it's "easy to clean" but I'd say that's only true if you take care of it right away after use - then it's "easy" because you just run it under the faucet which is itself "easy". I don't see any safe way to disassemble it fully for cleaning (and I'm not going to try really hard until I really need to) and with all the ports and odd shapes involved it would take a fair bit of effort with a pipe cleaner to reach 90% of its insides.

SO, so much better than the aerators that you hold your glass under! This aerator does all the work FOR you.Just place on top of any sized wine bottle and start pouring. NO buttons to press, NO holding your glass underneath. As you start pouring it automatically aerates as it is pouring. No splashes, pours quickly and aerates MUCH, much, much better than the types you hold your glass under.I was impressed with the amount of bubbles being infused into the wine as it poured. This does not make your wine bubbly, fizzy, it adds air to the wine as it is pouring into your glass taking away the harsh tastes, like acidity, and smells wine can have when first opened. Leaving your wine in the fridge and drinking it the next day your wine will definitely taste better.Adds a sleek, elegant look to your bottle of wine. Do not store your wine in the fridge with this aerator, it is NOT a stopper/ cap.
