This is an up to the minute (2024 upgraded) CarPlay adapter and given a help screen, one that is easier to use than those that require a little more tech savvy. First, I turned off the auto connect for my home network. Then, I disconnected from my home network and went down to the car. I started the car, waited until the stereo was all up and then plugged the adapter into the usb port. The help screen came up instantly. There, on the lower right is what you need to look for in your Bluetooth. Seems weird, right? CarPlay uses the Bluetooth to detect the car, as it were, and the wifi's much greater bandwidth for CarPlay functionality so it has to pair with the Bluetooth first. Once you pair it with the information presented on the screen (which will have the particular name and number of the adaptor) the phone and the stereo do the rest. Authorize CarPlay all the time, authorize the phonebook, and authorize the manufacturers "if you crash..." thing --your iPhone would have already called but just in case, the car saying "I've crashed" probably says more to 911 operators than the phone saying "I have crashed" because, while the second can happen by accident, the first only happens IN an accident. And then? CarPlay! Every time you get in the car, all on its own, blissful, uninterrupted CarPlay! You can do Handoff from your home speakers or your Mac to your phone and then to your car or it can just keep playing where it left off the last time you were in your car. Regardless, no more interruptions, no more worries about finding the perfect wire for the finiky car stereo, blissfully uninterrupted CarPlay is now yours! The Shsuert CarPlay adapter works like a charm with your iPhone and, believe me, you are going to love it.If you are giving this particular CarPlay adapter as a present, the box is no great shakes but the adapter is well packaged and not going to get damaged in transit to you and that is something I always consider important because there is nothing worse than something that almost arrives the second you order it so you've built up gobs of anticipation only to open the box and find electronic confetti.

Got the device to connect fairly easily. The problem was it messed up while using Apple Maps thru CarPlay. While driving, you are not supposed to be able to type your destination, but through this device it did. I used the microphone to tell the map the destination to go, but instead it looked it up and just gave me a verbal response with information about the destination and did not set the destination with the Maps program. Also thru the device, my wife tried calling me a number of times and I missed calls. When I called her, it went through, but she couldn’t hear me. I called back two or three times but had the same problem therefore, I returned it to Amazon.
