So I got this for my 2011 Subaru outback knowing that it isn't the actual replacement part, however it fits in the hole perfectly and works great, all you gotta do is cut and splice your wires into the old switch wires.

From what Iv found, on the 2014 outback I was working on… if something is within the hatch closed like near the latch area and it causes the hatch to be under slight tension it will not release with the button and it almost seems like the button is bad. Like even damn umbrella fabric can cause enough tension toMake the latch not release, you need to manually open the hatch from the inside, then check your button. This car was a come back for me and that’s what I found, car hasn’t been back since. ——- also this does not have the same connector as the outback, so some splicing wires will be necessary on the outback.

I ordered this part to replace just the damaged switch on my 2010 Outback. The switch is the same and fit perfectly in place of the old switch. I was able to cut the wiring harness and solder the new switch on. This saved me from buying the license plate and trunk switch assembly to fix the bad switch on my Outback. saved me money.Update. This switch only lasted for 11 months. The switch does not have any external damage, but it fails to make contact and open the trunk. This is a sealed unit and cannot be serviced. The product was fulfilled by Amazon which only has a six-month warranty. No warranty replacement or refund.

You need to splice in to make it work other than that its an A+

It works great. 2 things I wish were better are the length, could use another inch to fit more comfortably all the way to the connector and the black plug was too small.
