I had to machine the tool down to adjust the height to the accurate measurement. It saved me having to send it back. Also I don’t have to calculate the number every time I use it. I could see it being off by a couple of thousant’s but not 35. Pretty sad. Otherwise very nice piece. I like the white on black for visibility in low light situations and the action is smooth which is nice while adjusting.

Well the X Autohaux valve spring (installed height) measurer is not accurate to 0.001" as stated. I set it at the 0 which is supposed to be 2 inches. I measured it with my dial caliper and it was 1.970 which is .030 off. For every 0.100 shorter I make the tool (one clockwise rotation), it becomes an additional 0.001" out of whack. By the time I decrease the length to 1.600 it is 0.034" off. I give it four stars because the build quality is excellent and the rotation is very smooth. TO MAKE IT WORK: Just measure the valve spring installed height and write down what the scale on the tool shows. Remove the tool and set it to what you wrote down and measure it with a dial caliper or micrometer. That simple. If you have ever tried this measurement without this handy little tool you know it is a hassle. For the price I did not expect it to be accurate but it gets the job done. Very fine build quality and sharp clear lettering. I recommend this tool.

It was repeteable so you could measure with a caliper and figure out what mark actually equals the height your looking for, but I expect a measuring tool to be accurate. This was not.
