I'm not an electrician so you might want to check the reviews from folks who are, but I think these wire nuts will work just fine for most folks. I purchased the gray (smallest) and the orange (two sizes up). The gray wire nuts will twist and hold two smaller gauge wires together, stranded to stranded, stranded to single, or single to single. The spec for the gray wire nuts is 22 gauge for the smallest size and 16 gauge for the largest size. Typical usage might be speaker wires or very light weight appliance cords. These are likely to be too small for something like installing a ceiling fan. Anyway, they have a metal spring inside for grabbing, twisting, and holding the wires together. They have the standard grip design for so you can twist them on with your fingers without slipping. The come 300 to a pack in a nice little flat plastic container. Probably more than you will ever need. The orange wire nuts have a capacity of 22 gauge up to 14 gauge and are probably more versatile. They come in a similar flat plastic box with I think 90 connectors to a pack. They can twist together 2 to 4 wires depending on the size of the wire. As a minimum, something like 3 - 18 gauge wires or as a maximum 2 -14 gauge wires. These would be good for connecting or repairing a light weight appliance cord. Note: cords usually state what gauge wire is running in them. Again, very similar to the gray for form and function. I like these wire nuts for the price, for most applications, I don't see a need to pay the extra money for the brand name connectors. I don't think you will be disappointed with the quality of these wire nuts.

I certainly have enough of this gauge of wire nuts to last me years of electrical repairs!!😃 I ordered the yellow wire nuts from XHF, and the 500 pieces come in a single heat-sealed bag, which would be better if the bag could be resealed. This is certainly far from a deal breaker! I transferred the wire nuts into a heavy-duty zip-lock bag. Issue resolved!😄 I appreciate the UL rating on the wire nuts, which gives me a better feeling that these will meet electrical codes and standards! The quality of the nuts is superior and the screw inserts bite the wires quickly and securely. These aren't the fancy wire nuts with the "wings" mounted on the bottom of the nut to make tightening the unit easier, but they honestly don't need much torque to lock up and secure your wire connection. These wire nuts are compatible with two strands of 12-gauge or up to three strands of 14-gauge wire, which cover most of your connection leads for a home environment. Sometimes you'll find yourself replacing an outlet or a light switch, which usually has a small group of 14-gauge wires. Most times, you won't need to join wires together. But if the ends of your wires are really in poor condition, you might find it necessary to "clean up" a junction box by cutting off the bad wire and installing a short replacement length so that you'll have a solid connection to the socket or switch you are attending to. An interesting fact about these wire nuts, which I thought was a possible issue, is that they are a bit shorter and don't have the wings to tighten them. But after more careful thought, I see that these wire nuts from XHF are a "plus" when placing them inside a wire box. The "bonus" is that these wire nuts don't take up much space!!😁 All things considered, the wire nuts in an electrical box can make installing a new switch or receptacle difficult to fit properly inside. I also consider this set of wire nuts a tremendous bargain!! Packs of small yet similar wire nuts at big box stores are expensive!! This set of 500 wire nuts is much less than half the price of big box stores!!! SCORE!! 🚩I rate this set of UL-listed wire nuts a solid 10 out of 10 because of the quality of the build in the nuts, the Underwriter's Laboratory seal of approval, the space-saving size, and the fantastically low price that is afforded an average purchaser!!! I would grab a set of these wire nuts before the price increases. At the time of this review, 500 units cost $22.99. Divide the $22.99 by 500 pieces, and you'll realize the cost is just 0.046 a piece!!! This product at this low price is, in my opinion, a bona fide bargain if there ever was one!!! Take advantage of this great price and always have the right wire nut at the ready for any project you are undertaking!!!!
