Overall, recommended for practicing calligraphy, kanji, and other characters!Pros:- The grid lines are clear- Lots of paper for a fair price!- Paper texture works well with ink and brushNeutral:- Be careful! Depending on what kind of ink/instrument you’re using, it might bleed through. I was okay when using a brush and India ink, but an alcohol-based marker ate right through the paper.

I haven't really used rice paper so far, but I'm willing to experiment.Since, the reverse side doesn't show much of the grid lines, I think you could count on seepage, and plan to use the back side for art, after touching up the marks, or not touching them up.Texture: seems good to me despite my lack of experience; and uniform per sheet.Value for money: My inexperience is really not helpful here.As a Vine reviewer, I receive items I personally select, at no cost to me, in exchange for a fair and honest review. I’ve been using this paper for my practice, and I have to say, it’s been a great experience. The 100 sheets are more than enough for plenty of practice sessions. The paper is smooth and soft, yet sturdy enough to hold up well with my brush strokes. The 5cm grid is especially helpful for beginners like me, as it keeps my characters aligned and proportional while I work on my form. I also appreciate how the paper absorbs ink without bleeding or smudging, which helps maintain the sharpness of my writing. It’s a good balance of traditional rice paper feel with a bit more structure, so it’s ideal for practice. Overall, this paper has definitely helped improve my calligraphy technique, and I’m looking forward to using it for more projects!

This large rice paper is hopefully made of materials to prevent leak through - but I managed to leak through! This is likely my fault more than anything, as I am new to practicing Chinese calligraphy and probably put far too much ink on the one spot that really leaked through. On another area where I was more careful, it did not leak through at all. There are 18 boxes on these large papers, and this set comes with 100 pages of rice paper. Wow! At currently just under $18, that's a LOT of practice you can get in! I used a set of copper paperweights that I got on Amazon on these pages to hold them down, and a gorgeous brush, and this paper. Definitely got into the -mood- of doing Chinese calligraphy. This is beautiful paper (and plentiful) to learn to do Chinese calligraphy on (although I would suggest doing it a LOT on regular paper before you graduate to the more lovely rice paper!). HIGHLY recommend this set!

Very nice traditional style calligraphy paper. "Rice paper' is a general term for paper made in the Asian style, not particularly that this paper is made from rice. You will want to practice with the paper on a piece of felt (or a newsprint pad or paper towels or however you have been taught. The paper is absorbent and you may have some bleedthrough (just like traditional paper. You can even get black polyester felt at DollarTree in the United States, good enough so you can start your practice with this paper. Some calligraphy papers are raw or half-raw and smell to high heaven. This is has no odor The cream finish is very pretty. The grid lines are light so it allows your brush stro9kes to show - but still visible enough to help you scale your characters. The important thing will be matching your brush size to the grid size of the paper. Follow the guidance of your teacher, or make some samples at home and then order the grid size to match your drawn characters. Or you can also use the smaller divisions, in a 2.5cm grid but you don't get the advantage of the diagonal lines. The paper size is about 12.75 x 24.5 inches, with a 12 x 6 character grid, in 5 cm squares.

This rice paper, designed for calligraphy to practice Chinese characters, is very sturdy rice paper. There is a red grid printed in 7.5cm squares. Each sheet is 13" wide by 25" long. There is a generous number of 100 sheets in the pack.Unfortunately they come folded in thirds so they are a little creased in two places (folded in thirds). I would have liked to have seen these shipped in a roll so the sheets were not creased. Even so, for about 0.17¢ a sheet, it's a good value. I didn't get this for calligraphy, but for collage and junk journaling. The paper is a fine thickness, but it doesn't look as if it would tear that easily.I like the surface of the paper. From the side it's possible to see very tiny mica flecks that reflect the light, so that's a nice surface quality. The texture is smooth but there is some tooth to it, so it's not smooth like regular printer paper. Overall, it is uniform and well made.I can offer a 5-star review with the only critique that I wish it was sent rolled so that it wasn't creased. Maybe I can iron out the creases? I'll have to see.

thick and durable, with a smooth writing texture that evenly distributed all types of ink and gel pens. Not prone to bleeding, good amount of paper. A little expensive, but it's also specialty paper.
