It's a pricy adapter but in the long run will save you a lot of money. I recently upgraded iPads and haven't been able to use the adapter for a few months now, but what a fantastic adapter it has been. I used this adapter to connect a Micro Korg synthesizer into my iPad 2. I used the synthesizer as a midi keyboard to control apps such as AniMoog and DM1 on the iPad, and then I would record out the headphone jack onto a sound recorder. Keyboards and Synthesizers are expensive. I found myself running into the problem of running out of sounds to explore. The synthesizer apps that are available these days for iPads and iPhones are amazing! Most of them cost anywhere from $5-$50 dollars on average and you get all the sounds you would for the price of a $4000 synthesizer. Having this adapter allowed me to explore those sounds using a real keyboard that I already owned, rather than being limited to the screen of an iPad. It was an instrumental part of my music process for years. Now all I need is one that adapts MIDI to Lighting!

Item worked once I ordered the 30 pin to lightning adapter fro apple. The original imitation connectors I got from amazon did not work. Get an adapter from apple!

Fonctionne bien, sauf que de temps en temps il faut éteindre l'application et la rallumer pour que la connection se face bien.

I thought this unit was everything that I needed to connect my iPad to my "Yamaha" digital piano. Unfortunately the connection to my iPad fits very poorly and simply will not stay connected. I have an iPad 3 and haven't had any problems connecting it to other devices. Other users do not seem to have experienced these problems so perhaps it's an issue of quality control. However, it was a complete waste of my money.

Pricy but united my laptop-based DAW (Cubase 5) with my iPad. Records MIDI from the 'Pad and sends it back to it which gives me the best of both worlds when producing a new song. When are these hardware manufacturers gonna make the switch to the lightning connector??

the Midi interface itself seems robust and well made, and works fine with my iPad 2. Unfortunately, there is a limited range of apps or software for the iOS, and so not very much that you can usefully do once you have your instrument hooked up... I ended up sending mine back for a refund.

Works great. I gave it 4 stars because the only issue is you need a fully charged iPad, because it cannot be charged when the midi adapter is connected.
